PA-8: Naughton Files Petitions, Becomes First Congressional Candidate on the Ballot

Naughton SignaturesShaughnessy Naughton is the first candidate to file for a run for Congress from Pennsylvania this year.

The PA-8 Democratic hopeful turned in 1,100 petition signatures to the Secretary of State’s office in Harrisburg.

“I’m thankful to all of our volunteers and supporters who made it possible for us to get on the ballot,” Naughton said. “What I am hearing from voters across this district is that they are tired of status quo and career politicians, whether in Harrisburg or Washington DC the system is broken. Voters want a change.”

Naughton is running against State Rep. Steve Santarsiero in the Democratic primary on April 26th.

The 8th Congressional District represents all of Bucks County as well as parts of upper Montgomery County.

The point is to show organizational strength by hitting the required number of signatures in the first of three weeks of petitions.

It got her a news story/cycle. It was a smart campaign move that cost little (besides a lot hard work getting signatures).
