Election Night 2014 was five months ago, which means it’s long past time for us to start thinking about Election Night 2016.
The Cook Political Report, the most respected political prognosticators around, released their rankings today of the vulnerable House seats for 2016.
Most seats, of course, were rated as either “Safe Democratic” or “Safe Republican” but sixty-five were classified as likely to go to one party, leaning in one party’s direction or a complete toss-up.
PA-8
Pennsylvania’s Eighth Congressional District was one of just eleven seats rated as a “toss-up”.
While PA-8 has a R+1 PVI, the main reason it is regarded as a toss-up is that it is an open seat with Rep. Fitzpatrick retiring.
Two Democrats, Shaughnessy Naughton and Steve Santarsiero, are battling over the nomination already. While many prospective Republicans are circling the race, no one has jumped in yet.

Meanwhile, the 6th district is rated as “Likely Republican”. PA-6 has just a R+2 PVI but so does PA-7 and that district isn’t on the list.
Instead, the reason the seat is just rated “Likely” to go to the GOP is because incumbent Rep. Ryan Costello is a freshman. Congressman Costello is doing a good job fundraising, though, so it’s entirely possible this seat won’t stay on this list for long.

If DiGiralamo runs, it will be a bloody primary and he will lose. The guy is too dumb to realize he’s a Democrat and will get bludgeoned with his voting record.
Democrats are also inept in PA-08. Santarsiero has shown his legislative prowess by passing 0 Bills while in the house. Despite the fact that his first term had a Democratic Majority in the House and a Democratic Governor. He’s simply an empty suit. Forget the labor unions, Santarsiero can’t win anyway. He’s far too left for the district.
PA-08 belongs to State Rep Gene DiGirolamo who will take all labor support from the Democratic nominee who will be broke after the primary.
Pa-6 is not competitive. The Democrats are too incompetent there to make it competitive.
