The race to replace retiring Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick is already under way (two days after Fitzpatrick’s final term started).
State Representative Steve Santarsiero (D-Lower Makefield) has announced his candidacy for the 8th Congressional District race in 2016.
“I’m excited to start preparing a campaign to represent the people of Bucks and Montgomery Counties in Congress,” Santarsiero said. “It’s time we make Washington accountable to our citizens. I will make it a priority to focus on keeping the middle class families of the 8th District secure while helping to grow our economy, create jobs and bring real reform to Washington.”
Rep. Santasiero just began his fourth term representing the 31st District and previously served as the Lower Makefield Township Supervisor from 2003 to 2009.
His announcement contained praise from former Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz and the Chair of the Bucks Democratic Party.
“Steve Santarsiero’s entry into the race is great news for the 8th District and for our Democratic Party,” ex-Rep. Schwartz said. “His broad support among Republicans, Democrats, and independent voters will make him a formidable candidate.”
“Steve can win this seat,” Bucks Democratic Chair John Cordisco asserted. “He just won re-election to the state house by a landslide in a swing district in what turned out to be a very bad year for Democrats. He has a clear track record of winning in a tough district, and that’s what we will need to prevail in the 2016 congressional race.”
The 8th Congressional District contains all of Bucks County as well as part of upper Montgomery County. It is rated R+1 by the Cook Political Report.

I know of how Shaugnessy Naughton behaves in meetings. She mocks people behind their backs and makes faces while others she diagrees with. Reminds me of Katherine Knott. Very immature.
Hello! I’ve been following your site for a long time now and finally got the bravery to go ahead and give you a shout out from Huffman Texas! Just wanted to mention keep up the fantastic work!

Santarsiero’s an Anti-Gun, Anti-Second Amendment and a Bloomberg Minoin!! Who doesn’t have a clue that the 20,000+ Firearm laws on the books just have to be Enforced and the Courts have to adhere to the strict sentencing under the Laws for violators.
The one question he needs to answer, if he dares, is: ‘If I sell 100,000, homemade, one-dollar mousetraps, how much of the money people give me for them should I be allowed to keep?’
Santarsiero’s policies would redistribute me into poverty–take 80% of my revenue and then offer me food stamps. He’s almost a communist. Democrat grassroots is gonna love him.
Steve Santarsiero is both a visionary and a conciliator. He believes that government can work to serve everybody. He supports public education and protecting the environment. He believes in fairness and justice. This is all contrarian to the Republican ideology of being anti-tax, anti-regulation and anti-government. He believes in the US and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Constitution. He believes in “checks and balances’ of both the government and business. These are some of the reasons why I and so many others support him.
I want Shaughnessy to run! She is a great scientist with so many years of experience! She is definately not trying to get power no matter what it takes.
Dream on. Farry smokes him.
And the bait has been taken. Guess what state rep district will be flipped in 2016.
The Mexican better win or it will be a lose lose for PA’s dumbest party chair.
Good Luck.

A good sign for Democrats! Now Dems just to need to recruit a top-tier candidate in PA7 and start making some noise!
