Anti-Washington sentiment has run rapid throughout the country for quite awhile now.
As a result, re-election presents a difficult task for incumbents. Particularly for an incumbent Congressman who barely survived the first challenge from his opponent.
This is the task for Rep. Bill Shuster, who has chosen to show voters how much he has done for them.
In his thirty-second TV spot, constituents recount all the ways he has benefited them.
“Bill worked hard to fund a transportation bill that funds our roads without raising taxes,” Bill T. Ward of Ward Trucking states.
“Bill has voted to increase pay and benefits for our troops,” a veteran adds.
“Even when Washington isn’t working, Bill Shuster works for us,” they conclude.
Congressman Shuster is running against Art Halvorson, who narrowly lost to Shuster in the GOP primary but won the Democratic primary through write-in votes.
The 9th Congressional District consists of all or parts of Bedford, Blair, Cambria, Fayette, Franklin, Fulton, Greene, Huntingdon, Indiana, Somerset, Washington and Westmoreland Counties.

Shuster has merely marked time in office, and his campaign lies and scare tactics (it’s a joke to call Halvorson a Hillary supporter, or anti-gun, etc like he does in the direct mail ads) are clear signs that the emperor wears no clothes. Add to that the fact that most of his campaign contributions come from outside the district – he’s clearly bought and paid for by the political machine, not local constituents. I could tolerate that if he was actually a reform minded conservative, but tell me… what conservative legislation he has actually sponsored (not “championed” or “supported”) and worked into law? This area is done holding it’s nose, and voting for Shuster merely in hope of receiving a larger share of govt table scraps. We’ve voted out 2 tired, useless incumbents in the recent past, and Shuster will be next.
Shuster’s kids and ex-wife have already made commercials for him. I guess we should have known his girlfriend would be next.

It is part of a multi-year effort by Congressman Shuster in his tenure as Chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee to reinvigorate the nation’s infrastructure in a fiscally responsible way. This was a bipartisan measure.

Congressman Shuster has accomplished many things for our district and for the country as a whole. If you go on the congressman’s website you can see all of the other bills and legislation he has passed. Now tell me how a new congressman will accomplish anything. Congressman must work their way up from the bottom to achieve anything. Halvorson will never achieve anything because he will not make it to a senior congressman.
He worked to solve airline industry problems to make his airline lobbyist girlfriend happy.
Centralpa – … just in the last 8 months he passed a huge highway bill that didn’t raise taxes. He was the first one to do that in 10 years. The EPA’s insane WOTUS reg – Bill was able to pass through the House authored by him to stop it. There’s two examples I thought of in 10 seconds.
Art Halvorson would make a great congressman.I believe he has the answers that are needed in Washington. When has Bill Shuster works to solve problems in Washington. I cannot think of anytime he has worked to solve our problems .
