PA Congressional Delegation, Hopefuls Respond to Biden Announcement

The Pennsylvania congressional delegation, and those hoping to replace them, spoke out on the decision by President Joe Biden not to seek reelection in 2024.

Senate

Statement from Senator Casey: "President Biden has always dedicated himself to improving the lives of Americans. He deserves our gratitude for his historic achievements, including rebuilding our economy after the pandemic and delivering the largest infrastructure investment in modern history. He has had an exemplary career in public service. He is a patriot who has always put our country first.”

“I join Americans across the country in recognizing President Joe Biden’s extraordinary career in public service. I am proud to have worked alongside him and my colleagues in Congress to pass the biggest infrastructure package in modern history, lower health care costs for seniors and working families, and defend democracy both at home and abroad. Joe Biden has been one of the most effective presidents of our time, and his patriotism and selflessness are an example for us all.”

As we reflect on his extraordinary accomplishments, it is time that we come together on a steady and unified path forward – for all future generations of Americans who will be deeply affected by the outcome of November’s election. That is why I am proud to join the President and many of my colleagues in supporting Kamala Harris to be our next President. She is an accomplished and exceptional public servant, and I look forward to working with her.

I want to take a minute to thank the hundreds of passionate constituents who have reached out over the past few weeks to share their thoughts during this uncertain time. I continue to keep their concerns at the forefront of every decision I make. As always, I’ll remain focused on doing the work I was elected to do, keeping my doors open to any resident of Pennsylvania’s 7th District in need of assistance, and working across the aisle to get things done for the American people. – Rep. Susan Wild (R-07)

“Since President Biden took office, America knew that he was enfeebled and incapable of the rigors of the highest office in the Land, not to mention the grueling demands on him as the leader of the free world. I lament that the American People were ever subjected to this. The democratic process of selecting a presidential candidate is being wilfully discarded – by design – for the sake of their power and power alone.” – Scott Perry (R-10)

“I was surprised to learn that President Biden has ended his campaign, pushed out under the pressure of Democratic Party elites, alongside vulnerable House Members and Senators, who saw risk to their own political futures by being tied to an executive who is clearly not up to the task.” – Glenn “G.T.” Thompson (R-15)

Blue background with the text following text: Joe Biden has offered this country decades of faithful service. As President, he has made this country safer, stronger, and more prosperous, and his election to the Presidency was critical to the enduring promise of American democracy. He is the most pro-union President of my lifetime, and he signed the most consequential legislation for veterans of my generation. I am proud to have served alongside President Biden in the fight for the Common Good, and I will continue to work with him and his administration to deliver for the good people of Western Pennsylvania.

This is a breaking story. More to come.

  1. Revresbo is piling onto the Progressive Democrat’s and their Carpetbagger candidate’s fictional narrative about Scott Perry. Scott was inside the Capitol, on the House Floor working as it was being stormed. He evacuated from the House Floor like all members (and the VP). Questioning his positions on issues is fair game, accusing him of violence on Jan 6 is pure, 100% fiction.

  2. GOP politicians are concerned about Vote Cancellation?? After violently trying to overturn the last election?? (I’m looking at YOU, Felon Scott Perry.) That’s rich!
And Charlie Gerow is right in the middle of the Republic Party self-delusion: PA will be a LANDSLIDE for Kamala.
