If Gov. Tom Corbett thought he would get a reprieve from political attacks just because it’s his birthday, he was way off.
“In honor of Tom Corbett 64th birthday, the Pennsylvania Democratic Party came up a list of books for the governor on his big day,” said spokesman Marc Eisenstein.
“From the economy, environment, and retaining employees, Tom Corbett has some lessons to learn.”
On the list:
1. Twelve Steps to a Compassionate Life
2. Economics For Dummies
3. What Does a Governor Do?
4. Handle With CARE: Motivating and Retaining Employees
5. Getting Ready for Retirement
6. Cleaning Up the Environment
Terry Madonna is Professor of Public Affairs and Director of the Center for Politics and Public Affairs at Franklin and Marshall College. He said it was a relatively unusual – until recently – for opponents to politicize personal milestones.
“They have every right to go after the administration and his record. But there’s a way to do that without honing in on someone personally,” Madonna said.
“I’m not a fan of using holidays or birthdays in politics.”
Corbett campaign manager Mike Barley brushed it off.
“Governor Tom Corbett is spending his birthday the same way he spends countless other days throughout the year – working to create more private sector jobs for hardworking Pennsylvanians and reforming our government to make it more efficient.,” he said.
“Rather than attempting to take cheap political shots, I would invite the Democratic Party to join the Governor in these efforts to make Pennsylvania a better place to live, work and raise a family.”
Here’s a present from PoliticsPA. Wonder if, back when it was originally released in 1967, the 18-year-old Corbett had any idea where he’d be celebrating 64.

I’m not going to guess who is and who isn’t going to hell. But the list of books looks right. And I’d like to ask Mike barley when Corbett and the PA GOP are going to join in with creating jobs? It seems to me that most of us can pass a drug test without even studying. I know plenty of hard working people who would love to find work.

Sounds to me like you may have benefited from his tax cuts to wealthy people that have cost people who make less than $20,000/year to have basic health care. Take from the poor, give to the rich. I think the New Testament speaks about that too and not very highly, I might add.”
Basile:Judge ye and Judge you ye- So I will not judge damnation. He is the anti- Robin Hood. The Governor’s cut to children living in poverty and schools in poverty is criminal.
“Exactly what political advisers has he surrounded himself with???”
Basile : That is a question many are asking.

Corbett- taking living wage jobs turning them into private sector jobs paying peanuts – is not creating jobs!! You moron.
Cut your pay – stop taking millions from your money buddies and filling your own pockets.
Give us all a birthday present. Resign!!! You are a complete disgrace.”
Basile: West- do not hold back, tell us how you really feel! So many of us feel your outrage.

On average, 2 people die every day because they lack adult basic. Since the program was ended, hundreds were murdered by this man so his rich friends can increase their bank accounts.”
basile: I hope and pray your statistic is not valid, although I know in my heart he has taken years off my life.
BTW, all those legislators who made the difficult decision to discontinue Adult Basic during the budget crisis… Are they going to Hell, too? Just wondering.

As for prosecution, I’ll let Attorney General Kane and various US Attorneys take care of his earthly justice….God will take care of him when the time comes.
He’s a freely elected politician who will be fired by Pennsylvanians next year and then he’ll have the rest of his life to think about all of those he hurt in those 4 years. And that’s not counting all the victims of Sandusky as well. I think letting a pedarest roam freely for years, abusing more victims, is probably another qualification for hell too.

Maybe you should become a prosecutor and pursue the murder charge. From the looks of it, you have a brilliant legal mind.
By ending Adult Basic, Corbett condemned low income Pennsylvanians with serious health problems to death.
He took the tobacco money intended to help these people and gave it to his rich friends in the form of tax breaks.
I think murdering people is a good qualification for hell, especially if it was done with malice and forethought.
How to lose credibility with rational thinkers: Suggest that a freely elected politician is heading to Hell because you disagree with his policy positions.
To all the people screwed by this governor who are having a birthday today, I say “Happy Birthday.” It is THEY who need the cheering up and support. It is THEY whom I’ll remember on election day as well.

Corbett is far from a nice guy. He’s a mean spirited, vengeful person who has hurt countless thousands of his fellow Pennsylvanians. Dante has several places listed for him in his Inferno.
Nice guys finish last … and this is another instance of the Governor absorbing an attack without so much as even an ATTEMPTED counter-punch. Exactly what political advisers has he surrounded himself with???
