The PA GOP hired Megan Sweeney as its next Communications Director, filling the void left by Valerie Caras, who was recently appointed as Deputy Director of Communications in the Governor’s Office.
It’s Sweeney’s second time at the state party. She served as Deputy Coms Director from 2008 to 2011. She’s an Upper Darby native and graduated from Cornell.
A former member of the George W. Bush Administration, Megan also worked as Press Secretary for Congressman Lou Barletta, and most recently worked as Special Assistant to Secretary of the Commonwealth Carol Aichele.
“I am excited to announce Megan Sweeney as the newest addition to our strong Republican team,” GOP Chairman Rob Gleason said. “As we head into the 2014 election cycle, driving the Republican message of limited government and fiscal responsibility with the citizens of Pennsylvania will be critical to our Party’s success. Megan will play a key role in shaping our message as we work to re-elect Governor Tom Corbett, Lieutenant Governor Jim Cawley and our entire Republican team.”
Sweeney will have her hands full as 8 Democrats and one Republican have already announced their intent to challenge the Corbett-Cawley team.

Wonderful blog you have here but I was wanting to know if you knew of any community forums that cover the same topics talked about in this article? I’d really love to be a part of group where I can get feed-back from other knowledgeable individuals that share the same interest. If you have any recommendations, please let me know. Kudos!|

Bets on how long she lasts before she’s shuffled off to another political gig?
Elroy,
Again you show yourself to be the idiot in the room and the only hypocrite. You made the same stupid conflation here: https://www.politicspa.com/corbett-camp-staffs-up/53327/
Ms. Foster,
Thank you for the informative article. This is but another example of talented individuals moving between political assignments and legislative duties. Governor Tom Corbett, Frank Fina and fellow prosecutors destroyed lives over this issue. Talented political people are necessary in government. Corbett is surrounded with staff trained in the political world. I believe he is running for re-election. Thank you for exposing this hypocrisy..
