PA GOP: Leadership?  Holden Chooses To Campaign Rather Than Address The Largest Tax Increase In Our Nation’s History

PA GOP FIRE PELOSI TOUR STOPS IN PA-17

HARRISBURG– 17th Congressional District candidate Dave Argall joined Dauphin County Republican Committee Chairman John McNally and a host of supporters today as the PA GOP made its latest stop on its statewide PA GOP Fire Pelosi Tour.

Dave Argall, candidate for the 17th Congressional District added, “Tim Holden continues to support Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her liberal agenda more than 9 out of every 10 votes.  Holden joined Pelosi in casting the deciding votes to adjourn the House rather than preventing the largest tax increase in our nation’s history.  That is a record that is too liberal and way out-of-touch with people of the 17th Congressional District.”

“Today, we begin the final countdown to firing Nancy Pelosi and one of her most loyal supporters Tim Holden,” McNally said. “For the past two years, the people of the 17th Congressional District have been forced to watch as Tim Holden voted for a nearly $1 trillion stimulus package that has done nothing to keep unemployment from reaching double-digit levels. The fact of the matter is that Tim Holden has voted with Nancy Pelosi nearly 96% of the time, and that is simply unacceptable.

“Just this week, Tim Holden again joined with Speaker Nancy Pelosi to cast a vote to adjourn from the U.S. House early to go campaigning rather than deal with the largest tax increase in American history.  This vote will tax the hardworking people of the 17th Congressional District even more at a time when so many have less.

“The people of the 17th Congressional District need to understand that a vote for Tim Holden on Election Day is a vote for Nancy Pelosi for Speaker.  If we want to Fire Pelosi, and that is a message I am hearing loud and clear from voters around the Commonwealth – we must defeat Tim Holden!”

According to The Washington Post vote database, Rep. Tim Holden has voted with Nancy Pelosi nearly 96% of the time.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the expiration of the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts will impose a massive increase on taxpayers.  For example, a typical single filer with adjusted gross income of around $40,000 it might be about $400 a year and for someone on $80,000, about $1,600.
