PA-Gov: Corbett Ad Calls Tom Wolf President Obama’s “Biggest Fan” (VIDEO)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0-spwuRtF0

Well, that was quick.

Governor Corbett’s campaign is up with a new TV ad attacking Wolf for campaigning with President Obama, even though the event hasn’t happened yet.

“Tom Wolf just may be Barack Obama’s biggest fan,” the narrator begins. “Like Obama, Wolf’s a liberal. Like Obama, Wolf has never met a tax increase he didn’t like.”

The thirty-second spot, titled “Radical Fandom”, goes on to note that Wolf contributed money to the President’s campaign and will appear with him in Philadelphia on Sunday.

The commercial then takes an intriguing turn when it shows footage of the event Wolf held with First Lady Michelle Obama earlier this month.

“Voting for Tom Wolf would be like voting to make Obama Pennsylvania’s Governor,” the ad concludes.

We’ve already explored the prospects and perils of the President’s support for Wolf but it is quite interesting to see the Corbett camp try to connect the two through the First Lady.

Michelle Obama (as is custom for First Ladies) has some of the best favorability ratings for a public figure in the country. As a result, this attempt to link Wolf with Barack Obama by using the First Lady has the potential to backfire on the Governor.

  1. As a woman and a longtime resident of the state, I will be shocked if governor Corbett gets even 10% of the female vote. He doesn’t think much of women or our right to make up our own minds about our bodies and our choices. I’m urging all of my friends and neighbors to get out to vote on Tuesday and vote against him.

  2. Unless i’m delusional, this add aired in my market prior to the visit to bracket him in.

That ad is running in every media market in the state — except Philadelphia.

So, Philly definitely not the focus group.

  4. Sorry guys, wishful thinking on your part maybe? The focus group was mostly Philadelphia Dems. Let that sink in a while.

  5. Rush Limbaugh talks alot about “low infrmation voters”. Is he referring to the part of the Republican party that was previously the “Know Nothing Party?”

  6. UR,
There is no 68% focus group. By your reasoning, given Corbett’s even lower approval rating, just mentioning “Corbett” goes after the 77% who don’t approve of the job he’s doing.

Obama is more popular than Corbett.

But, the 68% contains people who think congress is doing a worse job.
Obama could have a 10% approval rating and beat someone with 5%.

But, most voters are going to judge Wolf on himself, not his party or Obama.

68% of voters aren’t going to show up at the polls.

The focus group is the hard core Obama haters.

  7. Unsanctioned R-
Agree that it was focus group tested. I even identified the group: voters that believe Obama is a secret Muslim (or worse)

According to several years of polling data, this is at least 30% of Republicans.

Considering that Corbett is going to have trouble getting Republicans to vote for him, it makes sense that he want to get the Obama haters to vote against Wolf.

Corbett wants to get the conservative base out, and Obama is their boogy man that wants to take away their guns and religion that they cling to so tightly.

  8. @ DD:

Also, in military terminology, you have outstretched your supply-line regarding your defense of AG-Holder; “HIS ONE ‘DO OVER’: Holder regrets subpoena to Fox News reporter.”

Your [reflex] defense of his having signed-off on the warrant [claiming inter-alia that James Rosen was a flight-risk] smears still more egg within the nostrils upon your face.

  9. @ DD:

You can run, but you cannot hide; as anticipated, after you were confronted elsewhere, you persisted in discussing Voter-ID rather than attempting to rectify your prior gross-errors.

Furthermore, after your lengthy subjective attack on advocates of Voter-ID were “answered” by a series of hyperlinks that contradicted your claims–objectively–you failed to reply.

Thus, you have again demonstrated why you merely consider posting on this site to be “sport,” pursued to satisfy your desire for entertainment; this also explains why no one should take you seriously.

  10. David, you act as if this wasn’t focus group tested. Your and my opinion and people like us don’t count. You make some great rhetoric, but you’re sometimes short on reality.

You falsely throw in everybody not in your own declared 32% Obama-Kool-aid group. There three groups. Pro-Obama, anti-Obama and neutral/indifferent/non-partisan.

The ad is for the 30-something % anti-Obama crowd, who the GOP think would be fired up against any Wolf association with Obama. Corbett is clearly hoping to scare his base into coming to the polls, but Obama’s approval is still higher than Corbett’s.

It’s a mistake to believe or claim that anyone who disapproves of Obama would hold Wolf accountable (or think Wolf is a secret Muslim).

So, it’s you that needs to learn some math and not lump your 68% into one category.

  12. Unsanctioned R-

The ad is for the Kool-Aid drinkers who still think Obama is a secret Muslim.

Wake up and smell the roses folks, if and when we go to heaven, there will be every skin color in heaven. Jesus does not discriminate!

  15. everbuddy knows goevenore corbit and his lou tenant goevenro bill frawley are gonna win in a land slide on elcton day but it aint matter none if obamna and bil clenton and hilery are gonna try to help john wolfe and mark stark win cuz it aint gonna mater cuz cobit is gonna win anuther 4 yrs cuz that the way it works in penna guvs are aloud to be guv for 8 yrs and than they has to stop and let the other partie take over as guv, it al ways been dat way in penna,

  16. “Voting for Tom Wolf would be like voting to make Obama Pennsylvania’s Governor”

Governor Michelle Obama. Sounds pretty sweet.

But, that clip of Michelle Obama that they put in the ad… If I was Tom Wolf, I’d run that clip as often a possible.

Team Corbett picked a fantastic pro-Wolf clip with the very popular Michelle Obama. I guess Corbett’s pro-NRA policies extend to shooting himself in the foot.

If the Wolf team put a mole into Corbett’s campaign, it’s got to be the guy who selected that clip to put in the ad. 🙂
