PA-Gov: Washington Post Ranks PA as Most Likely State to See a Gov Switch

Governor-Tom-CorbettIt’s unlikely at this point that Governor Tom Corbett is a subscriber to the Washington Post.

Last week, the paper cited the porno email controversy in order to classify the PA-Gov race as one of the nine “most ridiculous campaigns” of 2014.

Even worse, for over a year now, the paper’s political analysts have consistently ranked Gov. Corbett as the most endangered incumbent in the country.

Now, just over two weeks out from Election Day, the Post sees no reason to change their predictions.

“Only one incumbent, however, is a goner for sure: Pennsylvania’s Tom Corbett (R),” they note at the beginning.

They were even harsher when they finally got to PA in their rankings.

“Tom Wolf (D) hasn’t had a very high profile since cruising to a primary win in the spring,” they write. “That’s a smart move because his opponent, incumbent Corbett (R), is extremely unpopular. Wolf is measuring the drapes in the governor’s mansion — and rightly so.”

The Corbett camp surely isn’t giving up, just today the campaign released a new ad citing a recent poll to show that the GOP nominee has the momentum.

Regardless, I wouldn’t expect to see any copies of the Post lying around Corbett-Cawley headquarters.

  3. Martinez is playing with you all and in a very hilarious way. I find him extremely entertaining. His persona is a metaphor that reflects the pa electorate and the idiocy of always electing two terms to each party regardless of who the person is.

  4. Corvo-
Chris has done everything but yell “April Fools”. The posts are all obviously jokes at this point (and have been for months).

  5. Okay, I went a little too far with the last line of my comment at 12:45 am. I am not going to follow Martinez on this website every time he uses his freedom of speech. I sounded way too mean which I am not and I apologize for that and am done commenting. I got too riled up and won’t be doing this again.

  6. @ Chris Martinez: It’s obvious that it is pointless to reason with you since you posted the same old, repeated response. On election day, the voters of Pennsylvania will decide this election. Not you. They will make their voices known without you regardless of what you say. Basically, your posts here mean nothing. The election will be decided without you because voters are more informed than you are. So by all means, keep making your pointless comments. Come election night when Corbett looses, I will never let you forget it as long as you comment here on this website.

  7. corvett and basil I aint no character and I aint no faker, I am chris and I seen plemty of poles that say goevenor corbit is gonna win in a land slide and them poles aint lying cuz it gonna come truth cuz in penna the way it works is goevs all ways serve 2 terms or 8 yrs and that just gonna be the way it all ways is, you see,

  9. “Chris” keeps pulling people in who treat his remarks seriously, so I guess that’s enough to keep him going. With two weeks left, he’s not about to break character now. -DD

I just wish Chris would take my bet.

  10. @Chris Martinez: What “truth” do you you speak of? The real truth is all the scientific polls that have Corbett losing. Your so called truth is nothing but bs. All you do is pull your so-called “polls” out of your arse. Those polls do not exist but you’re too stubborn and boneheaded to admit it. Everytime you post you do nothing but make baseless and factless assumptions. The polls everyone else takes seriously are based on a science that has Corbett losing. Your “polls” mean nothing and do not exist.

  11. davis I aint no prank nothing and you just don’t like to here people say the trooth about goevenor corbit gonna win in a land slide but dats what gonna happen cuz poles show he gonna win plus the way it work in penna is govs aloud to be govs 8 yrs ata time than they gotta leave so the opposite poarty can take ovar as gov, so stop tawkin smak bout me, ok

  12. When this thread begins to debate the “wisdom” of this Chris Martinez (and, yes, literacy counts…a lot), that is my cue to tune out. Good luck, fellows.

  13. Corvo- “Chris” is a prank character made up by one of posters here, who is quite dedicated to pursuing this fake persona to the end. I would have tired of such a joke/prank long before now, but “Chris” keeps pulling people in who treat his remarks seriously, so I guess that’s enough to keep him going. With two weeks left, he’s not about to break character now.

I hope after the election he comes clean on his identity so he can get his proper kudos for his performance.

  14. @Chris Martinez: I have a short history lesson for you. But first, I will acknowledge that you are correct that past governors of Pennsylvania have served a total of two terms. But here’s the rest of the history: Before 1968, Pennsylvania governors were limited to only one, four year terms due to Pennsylvania Constitution. In 1968, the state Constitution was amended that allowed a governor to run for a second term. Governor Shafer was in office when the Constitution was changed but was not allowed to run again. In 1974, Governor Milton Shapp was the first governor to run for re-election. After that, every governor has been re-elected. The reason is not “cuz the way it works in penna”. The reason is that we have had popular, well liked governors who ran for re-election against very weak opponents. The other is reason that whatever parties past governors belonged to, the sitting president was in the opposite as protest against the president in office. For instance, Governor Ridge (R), was in office during President Clinton’s(D) term. Governor Rendell(R) was in office during President Bush(R) and Governor Corbett (R) during President Obama’s (D) first four years. This tradition has been in place ever since Governor Shapp but will end with Corbett’s defeat. Normally, Corbet would win as a protest vote against Obama. This time is different because Corbett has been a bad, unpopular governor and voters have had enough. So unpopular that voters will vote him out. All the real and legitimate polls, and voter anger will prove it.

Finally, PA’s tradition could very well reset if Wolf becomes popular enough and does a good job. Voters will re-elect him if he does a good job but if Wolf turns out to be bad, voters will not hesitate to kick him out in 2018.

  15. @David Diano and New Liberal Lion: I hope you guys are right. I look forward to reading Martinez’s reaction to Corbett’s defeat on election night. I am wondering whether he will concede that he was wrong or if he’ll flip and come up with a conspiracy theory as to why Wolf won. I hope that Martinez will admit that pulled these so called “polls” out of his arse(I doubt that he will). His polls are non-existent and if you ask him where his “polls” come from, he won’t tell us. Martinez’s polls do not exist but he will deny it and say they are real but give no proof. Keep watch for Martinez’s response to my post…

  16. somebudy using my name posted sumpin at 949 but I is the reel chris not the one who posted undar my name at 949, davis daino I aint got nothing to reveel, i am reely chris Martinez and chris Martinez is me reel name and also its true that goevenor corbitt aint gonna not win the elction he gonna win in a land slide cuz the way it works in penna is guvs get to be guvs for 2 terms each and than the other partie gets to be guv for 2 terms or 8 yrs for shore,

  17. I’m hoping after the election, “Chris” will reveal himself and take credit for his pranksterism.

  18. Before the night is over, I fully expect Chris Martinez to repeat the same BS he has for months: “Don’t listen to these polls. Corbett is gonna win in a landslide because governors get eight years cause that’s how it’s been.”
