Governor-Elect Tom Wolf is planning a day of events and a Pennsylvania-themed bash to ring in his term as Governor, but not without the help of a few sponsors.
Wolf announced Thursday that he will disclose all inaugural sponsors over $500, releasing a list of donors totaling $1.5 million on his inauguration website. More sponsors will be disclosed on March 30th.
Among Wolf’s biggest sponsors are corporations, law firms and labor unions.
Wolf capped all donations at $50,000. Sponsors that hit the $50,000 limit were: AFSCME Council 13, a labor union representing more than 65,000 Pennsylvania employees; the law firm Berger & Montague, P.C.; Comcast Corporation; First Quality Enterprises; Independence Blue Cross; PSCOA, a labor union representing corrections officers; Richard Vague, managing partner of Gabriel Investments; and The Wolf Organization, Inc., the company Wolf left to run for governor.
Twenty-seven sponsors gave $25,000 to the Inaugural Committee. Notable among this group are AT&T, Capital BlueCross, former Democratic state legislator Constance Williams and the University of Pittsburgh.
Big-name corporations Verizon, PPL Services Corporation and FedEx also threw some money in the mix, donating $20,000, $10,000 and $5,000, respectively.
Wolf received the support of a few trade associations: the Broadband Trade Association of Pennsylvania, the Entertainment Software Association, the Pennsylvania Food Merchants Association, the Pennsylvania State Troopers Association and the Pennsylvania Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association, Inc. All gave sums of $10,000, except the Pennsylvania Food Merchants Association, which gave $5,000.
Other notable donors to the Inaugural Committee were the Pennsylvania Democratic Party and the Philadelphia Eagles, both of which gave $5,000.

Don’t get your knickers in a twist. Pitt is a state-affiliated school, not a state school – state money specifically goes to subsidize tuition for Pennsylvania residents, not fund donations to inaugurations.
I’m pissed as a taxpayer, just who is the person at PITT that made this decision to give $25,000 of the taxpayers money to this event?
If I were a PITT student, I’d be pissed. Their tuition is high enough already.
