PA-Gov: Wolf Extends Election Deadlines

Governor-WolfThe Blizzard of 2016 has bought some candidates more time.

Today, Governor Tom Wolf issued an executive order to extend the filing deadlines for the March 15th special election.

“The executive order extends the deadline for political parties to file nomination certificates and for political bodies to file nomination papers for the March 15 Special Elections in the 57th, 192nd and 200th Legislative Districts,” the PA State Department announced. “The deadline has been extended by 24 hours for each business day that the Secretary of the Commonwealth’s office is closed. The order specifies the deadline will not be extended beyond 5 p.m. Wednesday, January 27th.”

“The weekend’s severe snowstorm led to the closure of the Capitol Complex in Harrisburg, PA, including the Department of State’s Bureau of Commissions, Elections and Legislation where nomination certificates and nomination papers are filed,” they explained.

The 57th district is located in Westmoreland County. The 192nd district contains part of Northwest Philadelphia. The 200th district contains part of North Philadelphia.
