Governor Wolf announced his choice today for Chairman of the Liquor Control Board.
Former Congressman Tim Holden, who served in the U.S. House from 1993 to 2013, will now lead the board. Holden has been a member of the board since 2013.
Holden is replacing outgoing Chair Skip Brion, who will remain on the board.
“I am confident in Chairman Holden’s ability to continue to make the LCB more transparent and ensure that taxpayers receive the most benefit and the highest standard of customer service,” Governor Wolf said. “I thank and commend Skip Brion for his dutiful and diligent service as Chairman.”
The Governor’s team provided the following biographical information on Rep. Holden:
Former Congressman Tim Holden was nominated to the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board by Governor Tom Corbett on June 14, 2013. He was unanimously confirmed by the State Senate on Nov. 13, 2013 to serve a four-year term.
He is a native of St. Clair, Pennsylvania. After attending St. Mary’s Elementary School and St. Clair Area High School, he received an athletic scholarship to Fork Union Military Academy, completing one year of college prep. Tim completed his education at Bloomsburg University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology.
In 1980, Tim earned his license as an insurance broker and real estate agent. He went on to work as a probation officer, Sergeant-at-Arms for the Pennsylvania House of Representatives and served as sheriff of Schuylkill County from 1985 to 1992.
Tim was a member of Congress for 10 terms, first serving the 6th District from 1993-2002 and the 17th District from 2003-2012.
Tim was a member of the Agriculture Committee since 1993, and served as vice-chairman of the House Agriculture committee in the 110th and 111th Congresses. He was also selected to serve as the chairman of the Agriculture Committee’s Subcommittee on Conservation, Credit, Energy and was appointed to the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
He and his wife Gwen live in St. Clair, Schuylkill County.

Well, actually it was Governor Tom Corbett who “brought Congressman Tim Holden back to Public Service” since he was the one who have him a spot on the LCB. Governor Wolf just promoted him to chair it is all.
