PA-Gov: Wolf Names Liquor Control Board Nominee

Governor-WolfGovernor Tom Wolf has named his latest nominee to the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board, businessman Michael Newsome.

“Michael Newsome has the perfect mix of business experience to serve on the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board,” Governor Wolf said. “Michael has served in a large variety of roles across the private sector in Pennsylvania and has led the sale and transition of two major Central Pennsylvania businesses. His business background and private-sector expertise will be an asset as the LCB works to maximize revenue and consumer convenience.”

Newsome worked for the Governor’s company, the Wolf Organization, as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Gov. Wolf credits Newsome with helping the company expand nationwide.

From 1992 to 2004 he was the Comptroller of the York Daily Record.

The PLCB is a three-member body which manages the alcohol industry in the Keystone State. Newsome would be Wolf’s first appointee to the Board, where he would join Gov. Corbett’s two choices, former Congressman Tim Holden and Michael Negra.

Any nominee must be confirmed by two-thirds of the State Senate.

  1. Albert, serving as the CFO of one of the biggest cabinet manufacturers in the country I believe qualifies as “large business experience”. He also is rumored to be the premier wine aficionado of central pa.

  2. 82 years of having unqualified board members continues with the abject cronyism of the Governor. Why is it they never think of hiring somebody with any liquor retail or at least large business experience?

  3. Budweiser once made a Real American Hero ad for Michael Newsome, it was pulled because it was too awesome and made all other ads seem dull and stupid.
