The election is in one month, and now even state House candidates are getting in on the action. Here are campaign ads from the Democrats on TV.
3 of the 5 are candidates from PoliticsPA’s list of Top 10 House Races a month ago. The other 2 are candidates who could make our forthcoming list next week.
4 of the 5 ads are paid for by the House Democratic Campaign Committee.
We’re tracking down the Pa. House GOP candidates on TV, too. A GOP source says the following are on the air: Reps. Joe Hackett, Doyle Heffley, Warren Kampf, Rick Saccone, Justin Simmons, and Dan Truitt; open seat contenders Jason Owen and Tom Sankey; and challengers Mike Doyle, John Hauser, Harry Rogers and Sherry Stalley. We’ll run their ads as we get a hole of them.

Here are the Dems:
HD-3: Ryan Bizzarro
Bizzarro is running for the open seat of retiring Rep. John Hornaman (D-Erie) – who makes a cameo in the ad. The spot emphasizes his family roots in Erie. Paid for by HDCC. His opponent is Jason Owen.
HD-74: Mark McCracken
This Clearfield County Commissioner is running to replace retiring Rep. Bud George (D-Clearfield), who makes an appearance in the ad to say, “I’m Backin’ McCracken.” This seat is the GOP’s top target in the state. Mostly a softball positive ad, it stretches to associate GOP candidate Tom Sankey with the U.S. House GOP budget. Paid for by HDCC and produced by Devine Mulvey.
HD-116: Ransom Young
Rep. Tarah Toohil (R-Luzerne) represents a fairly blue district – she knocked off Dem Majority Leader Todd Eachus in 2010 – but so far Young has not been talked about as a top tier challenger. Maybe that will change with improved name ID, like he hopes to get from this all positive ad. Paid for by Young’s campaign.
HD-157: Paul Drucker
This is another top 2010 matchup. Rep. Warren Kampf (R-Chester) beat Drucker in 2010 and now the former lawmaker is out for revenge. This spot slams Kampf for Marcellus votes more in place for a lawmaker from Potter County than one from SEPA. Paid for by HDCC and produced by Adelstein Liston.
HD-161: Larry DeMarco
DeMarco wasn’t on our top 10, but he was on the bubble. He’s trying to take back Bryan Lentz’s former seat from Rep. Joe Hackett (R-Delaware). This ad is split negative/positive; the main hit against Hackett being his Marcellus votes. Paid for by HDCC and produced by Adelstein Liston.

Ryan Bizzarro is awful. Jason Owens has my vote.
Not one ad paid for by HDCC for women. Not a surprise and a real disappointment.
Ryan Bizzarro is killing it out there. He should win. He will well financed and has himself well organized. Ransom Young has a little tougher fight in Luzerne. It is a fairly blue district but the area still has the 2010 Repbulican/TEA party wave.
