HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Democrats in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives are meeting in Harrisburg to pick their leaders for the coming two-year legislative session.

The Democratic caucus was scheduled to begin voting behind closed doors at midafternoon on Tuesday in the state Capitol.

Their two top-ranking leaders, Reps. Todd Eachus and Keith McCall, are leaving the General Assembly at the end of the month. Eachus lost re-election, and McCall is retiring.

House Democratic Whip Frank Dermody of Allegheny County is running for minority leader. Contested elections are expected to be held for whip, which is the second-ranking post, and Appropriations Committee chairman.

House Republicans reorganized last week and the Senate caucuses are electing leaders on Wednesday.
