PA Sen: Casey Ad Details Combating Sexual Assault on College Campuses

Addressing an epidemic.

Today, incumbent Sen. Bob Casey released a television ad detailing a bill he wrote attempting to curtail sexual assaults on college campuses.

“100 college Freshman by graduation, 23 will be sexually assaulted,” Casey says in the beginning of the 30 second spot titled “Twenty-three.” “It’s time to bring this epidemic, out of the shadows.”

The Casey campaign touts the “Campus SaVE Act” as a way to hold schools accountable for these assaults.

“In the Senate, Bob Casey has led the fight to combat sexual assault on college campuses and his record of delivering results for Pennsylvania families is second to none,” said Max Steele, campaign spokesman. “Our new ad highlights Senator Casey’s landmark Campus SaVE Act, which provides increased accountability and transparency in how colleges confront sexual assault while educating students and faculty on their rights and responsibilities.”

The Barletta campaign believes the ad discusses a serious matter that needs to be addressed, but thinks the Senator neglects the issue at other locations.

“We agree that sexual assault on college campuses is a major issue that must be addressed,” said David Jackson, campaign spokesman. “Unfortunately, Bob Casey doesn’t have the same concern for women assaulted by illegal aliens in sanctuary cities.”

This is the first television ad that Casey has released in the Philadelphia market for the November campaign. The ad is also playing in the Pittsburgh market.

  1. 23% figure used is bogus. It is based on a 2015 self-administered, web-based survey which had a response rate of 19%. Anyone knowledgeable about sampling would know that that methodology and response rate would result in a huge sample error and sample bias.
Better constructed surveys like the NCVS produce a rate of 0.61% per year.

  2. Now that the woman that Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted in high school has come forward (not anonymously), Casey has yet another reason to vote against this terrible Supreme Court pick.

  3. please provide the details of the many casey legislative accomplishments he’s had in 12 years in senate and 6 years as auditor general and treasurer. heck just provide the legislation he’s introduced!
i’m sure they will overwhelm us with all he’s done in the 18 years he’s been in public service.
republicans don’t blow this. . .the guy is a lightweight with no substance

    1. “6 years as auditor general and treasurer”

AG and Treasurer aren’t involved in legislation.

Also, it’s not the legislation you introduce but your voting record and the bill you co-sponsor to show where your priorities are.
