PA-Sen: Toomey Cites Rendell in Attack Ad on McGinty (VIDEO)

The Toomey campaign released a television ad entitled “Ethics,” which former Governor of Pennsylvania Ed Rendell called “misleading” and encouraged Toomey to “pull the ad down.”

The commercial aims to highlight alleged ethical shortcomings of Katie McGinty, the Senate Democratic nominee.

The thirty-second spot makes the claim that McGinty “funneled millions of tax dollars to a group that employed her husband,” and then continues to quote Rendell, who once called Toomey a “man of uncommon decency.”

The Rendell statement is part of the second half of the ad which emphasizes the Senator’s record as opposed to attacking his opponent.

Rendell responded to the spot, and the quote attributed to him therein, saying, “While it is true that I did say those words a while ago, I am deeply disappointed in the campaign Pat Toomey has waged against Katie McGinty. His ads have deliberately misled voters about Katie and her service in my administration. They are not the ads that would be authorized by a person of uncommon decency, so I now have serious doubts about my earlier characterization of him.”

The former Governor serves as the Chair of McGinty’s campaign.

  1. dems Toomey…sleezy! Trying to use Dems to support him to save his butt. What a joke, each one he has used in Toomey for UNEMLOYMENT!

  2. I am native of China and I come to this Counrty several years ago. I like Mr. Rendell because he make big order of food from my restaurant in Harrisburg.

  3. Toomey can’t carry Rendell’s jock-strap. He’d probably like to sniff it, though.
