PA10: Cook Moves Race to Toss Up

One House race in Pennsylvania is listed as a “toss-up” according to the latest ratings from the election analysts at the Cook Political Report

Rep. Scott Perry’s (R-York) race in Pennsylvania’s 10th Congressional District has moved from Lean Republican to Toss-Up. The fourth term Congressman edged out Democrat George Scott by just over 2.5 points in 2018 in the newly drawn district with boundaries that voted for President Donald Trump by 10 points in 2016. Perry’s latest bid was his closest victory since being voted into Congress in 2012 in the old conservative 4th District.

Entering election day in 2018, the Cook Political Report had the race listed as a Toss-Up.

Perry’s district is currently the only race in the state listed as a toss-up, while Reps. Matt Cartwright (D-Lackawanna) and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-Bucks) are the next two closest races with both incumbents having the edge “leaning” in their favor.

Scott announced in late June that he would not make another bid for the seat as a Democrat, despite coming within just a few points of besting the incumbent, but two Democrats thus far have officially filed with the FEC to run in the 10th District. Auditor General Eugene DePasquale, who narrowly edged out GOP AG candidate John Brown in the newly drawn district boundaries, announced a bid for the seat in recent months, while Tom Brier, an attorney and author, announced his candidacy in April.

Bobbie Jeffries, a logistics director for a health and wellness firm, announced a primary challenge to Perry, according to PennLive. Jeffries is slated to be the first primary challenger Perry has faced in the Republican Party since being elected to Congress.

  1. Scott Perry got owned by the guy who played Borat.

He believes absurd conspiracy like ISIS being behind the Vegas shooting.

    He needs to go

  2. Perry should be in a laugher here running away with this race but instead he is in the greatest of all battles. This is shades of Scott Wagner where the R looks bad from the start in a race. R’s are retiring instead of running against Dems and it all points to R’s getting walloped in 2020 in the House. Trump will hand the Dems an even bigger lead in the House that will for many years give them a majority the R’s will not erase. Fitzpatrick will lose if he stays an R in Bucks County.

  3. Maybe he should lock constituents out of another town hall. That should sure up some support.

  4. Perry had the audacity to blame progressive groups for the vacant chairs at his town hall. This guy is a true WEASEL and deserves to be defeated.
