Eugene DePasquale is on the move in his latest TV ad.
His latest 30 second spot titled, “Uphill” shows the Democratic challenger hiking with his children, likening the climb uphill to the difficulties that those in the 10th Congressional District face due to decisions made in Washington D.C.
“We all face challenges. God knows my life hasn’t been easy,” DePasquale says at the beginning of the ad. “That’s true for too many here at home.”
“But instead of helping, Washington has it backwards,” DePasquale continued. “Political insiders and big corporations get richer, while hard-working folks get screwed.”
He continues to say that representation in D.C. is needed from those who understand the struggle and “never forget where they came from.”
“I know it’ll be an uphill battle, but we’ve never met a challenge we can’t overcome,” DePasquale says to close the ad. “I’m Eugene DePasquale and I approve this message.”
Rep. Scott Perry’s (R-York) campaign responded to the ad by taking a shot at DePasquale, accusing the two-term Auditor General of being in politics for himself.
“Eugene DePasquale has spent his career looking out for one person: himself,” said Perry spokesman Matt Beynon. “DePasquale has used tax dollars to promote his political ambitions, took political donations from the target of his most high-profile audit (Governor Wolf), and chose to spend the Spring doing Pilates rather than looking out for Pennsylvania Seniors being ravaged by the pandemic.”
“Voters know Eugene DePasquale isn’t looking out for them and are going to tell DePasquale to take a hike on Election Day,” Beynon continued.
Pa. Republicans in the state have regularly criticized the COVID-19 response from statewide Democrats. There isn’t public polling on the subject specific to DePasquale, although Gov. Tom Wolf has consistently earned positive marks.
This TV ad, the seventh of the campaign from DePasquale, follows a theme in several spots that show DePasquale describing the challenges hard-working families face in the district. He released a TV ad in August that showed him doing CrossFit, to which the NRCC responded to in their 1st TV ad in the state by accusing DePasquale of “working” to raise taxes on families in the district.
Perry, who is serving in his fourth term in Congress, edged out Democrat George Scott by just over 2.5 points in 2018 in the newly drawn district with boundaries that voted for President Donald Trump by 10 points in 2016. Perry’s latest bid was his closest victory since being voted into Congress in 2012 in a district that was far more conservative at the time.
A trio of national ratings outlets have this currently rated as the tightest congressional race this fall. Inside Elections lists the race in PA10 as Tilt Republican; Larry Sabato’s Crystal Ball has it as Leans Republican, and the Cook Political Report has it as a Toss-Up.

Why have Speaker Bryan Cutler and Republican House Majority Leader Kerry Benninghoff not taken action to remove serial philanderer and child abuser GOP State Rep Aaron Bernstine from the Pennsylvania House of Representatives?
In one video obtained by the USA TODAY Network, Aaron Bernstine, R-10, New Beaver, Lawrence County, is behind the camera, but his hand is shown holding a cigar and offering it to his son.
When the young boy takes a puff, Bernstine tells him to “hit it harder” and “breathe in,” followed by a woman’s voice saying, “No.”
A second video has Bernstine again off camera asking his son, “What are we going to chase in Nashville?” The boy replies in a whisper, “Cadillac p—ssy,” using a vulgar term for vagina.
