PA11: Smucker 1st TV Ad Boasts Medicare and Tax Reform

Starting with Medicare and tax reform.

Rep. Lloyd Smucker (R-Lancaster) released his first television ad of the general election cycle. The thirty second ad focuses on his connection to the district and protecting Medicare and Social Security, while touting the GOP tax reform bill.

“That’s why I’m protecting seniors and the benefits that they’ve earned from fighting to protect medicare and social security to helping pass new tax cuts putting more money in your pocketbooks,” Smucker says in the ad.

“Congressman Smucker is fighting for our values and the issues that are important to our communities, like cutting taxes so hardworking families can keep more of their money,” said Mike Barley, campaign spokesman. “This ad highlights Congressman Smucker’s fight to protect seniors, especially his commitment to protect Social Security and Medicare.”

Smucker’s opponent, Democratic candidate Jess King’s campaign declined to comment for the story.

Smucker is now the third Republican incumbent to highlight protecting Medicare and Social Security in his first television ad. Reps. Keith Rothfus (R-Allegheny) and Mike Kelly (R-Butler) detailed protecting senior benefits in their very first television ads as well.

“I’m Lloyd Smucker and I approve this message because government shouldn’t be able to tear down what lifetimes have spent building up,” Smucker says to end the ad.

King has yet to release a television ad, but has posted campaign ads through Facebook.

  1. He’s a lying SOB. He will destroy Medicare and Social Security. Just like ALL Republicans.

  2. You sure your reporting is accurate? Jess King commented on this very subject at a public town hall in Manheim on September 16th.

  3. Congressman Smucker literally voted to cut $25 billion from Medicare just this past fall. This rings hollow.
