The Butler County Republican will represent this northwest PA district for another two years.
Rep. Mike Kelly (R-Butler) defeated Democrat Kristy Gnibus in the race for the 16th Congressional District.
Kelly leads Gnibus by 31 percent with 70% estimated to be in. The AP called the race at 9:39 A.M.
His 2020 reelection bid appears to be a significantly smoother win in comparison to his closer-than-expected race in 2018 when he narrowly defeated Democrat Ron DiNicola by just over 4 points.
Like his 2018 bid, Kelly touted President Donald Trump’s tax reform bill and more in his current reelection messaging. Gnibus, a teacher from Erie, slammed Kelly for supporting the GOP tax reform bill, saying that it only benefited the wealthy.
Trump won these boundaries by 20+ points in 2016 in the GOP friendly district.

Trump continues to rage and throw shit against the wall, filing spurious lawsuits to stop counting votes and making wildly specious claims of fraud. Trump should be tossed from court and penalized with counsel fees for all parties required to defend this malicious litigation.
Current system for counting ballots drawn up by the Republican lead legislature is too slow and cumbersome. Why not count ballots as soon as they arrive and have everything ready to go election night. The counting process must be streamlined and make less clumsy.
GOP does whatever they can to make voting harder and more cumbersome. GOP is undemocratic.
