PA7: Wild Raises Over $225K In Q1

Rep. Susan Wild (D-Lehigh) won one of the most closely watched races in Pennsylvania in 2018 and has filed her first full campaign finance report as a member of Congress.

Wild’s campaign raised $228,000 from the beginning of 2019 to the end of March according to the Morning Call. She’s raised just over $275,000 in the election cycle-to-date.

Wild outraised her GOP counterpart, Marty Nothstein, by wide margins throughout her bid for Congress last year.

She entered the month of April with just over $190,000 cash on hand.

The Morning Call reports that a Politico analysis places Wild as one of the eight Democrats out of 43 being targeted by Republicans to raise less than $300,000 in the first quarter of the year, although she raised more than most of Pennsylvania’s six other freshman representatives.

Dean Browning, a former Lehigh County commissioner, is the only declared GOP candidate thus far for the 7th District in 2020. His campaign raised $105,000 in the first quarter of the year, with nearly all of it coming from a $100,000 personal loan Browning made to the campaign, according to the Morning Call.

Wild is one of three Pennsylvania Democrats being targeted by the NRCC in their initial 2020 list, along with Reps. Matt Cartwright (D-Lackawanna) and Conor Lamb (D-Allegheny).

  1. This writing is terrible. Please write with more clarity. One of the 8 dems of the 43…wtf?

  2. Pa. Rep. Joyce helped elevate false claims migrants in Arizona were carrying tuberculosis.

  3. Excellent numbers for Cong Wild in fundraising but not too good for Browning who, according to the article, self funded at 1/3 her quarterly total. Unless we have campaign finance reform which seems to be the opposite of what the US Supreme Court wants then talented politicians need to keep raising money.

    1. Yes, excellent job by Wild continuing to raise money from outside the district/state. The outside support she got in the D Primary was from Planned Parenthood and Emily’s List, and a number of other progressive groups helped her in the General Election (source: Open Secrets). She is bought and paid for by the national progressive movement. But at least she will tell you she doesn’t accept corporate PAC money (only special interest money she is okay with)!
