He’s back on television with a second campaign ad.
Jim Bognet, a former Trump administration appointee, released his second TV ad of the Republican primary for the 8th Congressional District and touts his roots growing up in the district, while pledging his support for President Donald Trump’s agenda.
The 30 second spot, “Teammates,” shows Bognet on a football field at Hazleton Area High, harping back on a time when his team and the nation as a whole, “used to win.”
“Around here, we used to win a lot,” Bognet says with a football in his hand, to begin the ad, which is followed by a clip of him kicking a field goal through the uprights during a game for his high school football team.
“But things have changed,” he added.
“China cheated us on trade and sent us the Wuhan flu,” Bognet continues to say in the spot. “Illegal immigrants took our jobs, spread crime, and sent taxpayers the bill.”
“President Trump fights for us,” Bognet continues. “But he needs teammates.”
He ends the ad by saying that his bid for Congress is to “fight for the Trump agenda, build the wall, and put America first,” followed by him kicking the ball through the uprights.
This second television ad, which was first announced by the campaign on May 18, is airing on both broadcast and cable, along with Facebook and Youtube, according to the Bognet campaign.
The Bognet campaign said that this specific TV ad is a five figure buy.
Bognet’s first television ad, which debuted on cable on April 15, is a 30 second spot called “Make China Pay,” which was recorded by Bognet from his iPhone of him at his family’s construction business that has been impacted by restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic and pins the blame on China for the spread of COVID-19 in the United States.
Bognet is one of six Republicans seeking their party’s nomination for the 8th Congressional District along with Mike Cammisa, Earl Granville, Teddy Daniels, Luzerne County Councilman Harry Haas, and former Hazleton Mayor Mike Marsicano.
The seat is held by Rep. Matt Cartwright (D-Lackawanna), who is currently serving his fourth term in Congress in Northeast Pennsylvania.

His ads stink, The football motif has nothing to do with Congress and is he running against China? Could have been a good candidate in general but so ineffective in primary we won’t get to see his stuff in November. Besides, he is a Romney guy and that alone is enough to make me not vote for him.
I disagree. Lousy candidate in general. He doesn’t relate to the regular Joe. He drinks Java, wears stiff sweaters. To win the 8th ya gotta get D votes and a lot of them. This guy can’t even consolidate the R party behind him much less get a D. Too elitist and smug for the common man folk of NEPA. Never married and no kids in his mid 40’s is bizarro.
Question is.
Is it legal to use a public school facility for a partisan political commercial?
If so, did he pay a fee.
Most districts I know charge to use their facilities.
It is upsetting to hear that “China is going to pay” for the pandemic. While they might be responsible for its origins, there is no mention of HOW they will pay. It’s a poor catch phrase R’s like to use, someone else will pay. Sort of like the Mexicans will pay for the wall, we know how that turned out. Words are easy to use, but actions are what is needed.
What’s worse is that Bogus Bognet suggested MILITARY ACTION against China! The guy probably never held a rifle and def didn’t serve his country. What an idiotic thing to say in the Monroe County debate last week (which BTW he called the Montgomery Co debate bc he’s from the DC swamp and doesn’t even know the district he’s running in)! The only fight Bognet is up for vs China is to eat some shrimp fried rice on a full stomach and he’d probably cry during that one. Big tough guy.
So Bognet, the political genius who helped Martha McSally lose, thinks a video of him helping beat West Scranton is a smart thing to show. Did he forget that West Scranton is in his district and probably has as many R voters as in Hazleton? Time for the Invader fans to kick back and get revenge.
Most of the R spots I’ve seen have candidates tethering themselves to Trump. To me, that’s like booking passage on the Titanic with advance knowledge that the ship is going to hit an iceberg.
ALL GOP are LOSERS everywhere this year.
Did Java drinking cashmere sweater wearing Romney lovin’ Jimmy Bognet break a nail when he did the 25th take to catch that pass? Asking for a friend.
Trump Republican = Turd Republican
Since Bogus Bognet ABANDONED his hometown of Hazleton for the past decade plus to make money in the DC swamp working as a slimy lobbyist and to be the protege of his idol Mitt Romney, it’s laughable he does an add pushing his hometown. He was driving around with Virginia plates on his car these last months! By the way—way to piss off Lackawanna voters in the primary—showing their team losing. Not smart. This guy doesn’t have a chance in hell of winning the general. Will get creamed if the R nominee.
