PA8: Granville Ad Highlights Military Service

Another Republican in the race for the 8th Congressional District is on television for the last week of the primary campaign.

Earl Granville, a decorated combat veteran and veterans’ advocate, released a 30 second television ad that details his military service and explains why he is running for Congress in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

“First, Earl Granville fought and sacrificed for his country, then he inspired our entire nation,” a voiceover says in the beginning of the spot, “Service.”

The ad then shows a video of Granville that went viral from the Boston Marathon where he is carrying his running guide who was holding an American flag over the finish line of the race.

“When I lost my leg, the community here in Northeastern Pennsylvania was so good to me, and I want to show my gratitude and that’s why I’m running for Congress,” Granville says in the ad.

While serving in Afghanistan, Granville suffered severe battlefield wounds and had his left leg amputated.

The ad continues to say that Granville will “relentlessly fight to protect Northeastern PA conservative values” and urges people to support his campaign.

The image on the screen while the voiceover says he will fight for “Northeastern PA conservative values,” says that Granville is “pro-life, pro-Second Amendment, and pro-Trump.”

The Granville campaign says that this television ad, which launched on Tuesday and will run through the June 2 primary, is the second campaign ad of the cycle. The campaign previously launched an ad during the Super Bowl programming earlier this year, but they described this ad buy as his “first expansive buy.”

This specific TV ad buy is five figures.

Other candidates in the race also on television during the last week of the primary race include Jim Bognet, a former Trump administration appointee, and former Hazleton Mayor Mike Marsicano.

Granville is one of six Republicans seeking their party’s nomination for the 8th Congressional District along with Jim Bognet, Mike Cammisa, Teddy Daniels, Luzerne County Councilman Harry Haas, and former Hazleton Mayor Mike Marsicano

The seat is held by Rep. Matt Cartwright (D-Lackawanna), who is currently serving his fourth term in Congress in Northeast Pennsylvania.

  1. What? No attack on China or immigrants or reference to Hazleton? Can’t be a true Republican.

  2. Seems like 4 of the 6 Republicans are trying to out trump-tard each other on a race to the bottom.

  3. Why is being a decent soldier considered a qualification for Congress? There is often no skill tranferability between the two very different jobs.

    1. That’s an ignorant statement. Pressure cooker. Decisions that impact lives. Responsible for millions of dollars worth of equipment. Mission focused. Plus Granville does have a college education and probably knows more about veterans affairs than a lot of the guys on that congressional committee now.

  4. Looks like the 21 admins that run Granville’s Facebook page are prepped to police the comment section here.

  5. I’m voting for Mike Camissa. He knows the issues and he can be the Republican AOC. But if we’re being honest Earl Granville is the only one who can win the general election

    1. Camissa has Aspergers and voted for Trump. He’s what Earl would call a Trump Tard

  6. I’m voting for Haas. He seems genuine enough. I met him before the world ended at a chicken barbecue. I liked him. Earl too. And that kid running is an up and comer.

  7. Still called Trump supporters “Trump – Tards”. Admits voting for Gary Johnson. Fraud

    1. That’s not accurate—Granville was defending Trump and his supporters and he repeated a lib media term to make his point. “Hazleton’s finest political knuckleheads” (Mitt Romney’s BFF Bognet is TWISTING the facts bc Jimbo is clearly behind in the polls and desperate!) Granville’s the only one who can beat Cartwright

      1. Well social media can bite you. He’s taking a lot of flak for it. Speaking of social media, lots of cemetery pics on Earl’s Facebook. No problem highlighting your service, But using the fallen as campaign props is tacky in my opinion. I don’t see Teddy and Marsicano doing photo ops at headstones and I’m sure they lost friends. People notice.

        1. Teddy is exploiting his military service in an embarrassing phony flag waving fashion.

          1. Teddy is wearing a t shirt w a Purple Heart the size of Jupiter on it and has a video of himself pinned to the top of his FB page. And he’s insulted other vets often on social media. Marsicano’s closest experience w combat got a PFA slapped on him by an Ex girlfriend So the records show

        2. Cemetery pics on Memorial Day Weekend for a veteran who lost friends and family seems Kinda normal. Teddy posting a video of himself in a firefight on the top of his FB page is a pathetic cry for attention. Cammissa and Bognet braid each other’s hair in private. Go Mike Go!
