The Republican Party of Pennsylvania launched their new website, “DTeam2014.com,” to persuade voters of the shortcomings of the Democrats campaigning for governor.
“The D Team” webpage includes articles, videos and information that aim at convincing voters that the Democratic nominees “are just not ready to lead.”
“DTeam2014.com is a resource for all Pennsylvanians who want to learn the truth about the Democrats’ lackluster group of gubernatorial candidates,” said Rob Gleason, Chairman of the PAGOP. “It’s no secret that the Democrats are less than enthused about their gubernatorial candidates this year, especially since they all share the same agenda of higher taxes, more government spending and more ObamaCare. Even Vice President Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi, who are currently short on friends due to the ObamaCare disaster, didn’t want to be seen in public with the D Team yesterday.”
“While these candidates continue their contest to see who’s the most liberal among them, we thought Pennsylvanians deserved an easy-to-use resource to learn the real facts about these radical liberals. DTeam2014.com will contain up-to-the-minute information that Pennsylvanians need to know about the Democrats running for Governor.”
The website features unflattering pictures of all seven of the candidates vying to win the Democratic primary. The homepage includes former Revenue Secretary Tom Wolf and former DEP Secretary John Hanger looking remarkably lethargic and unattentive; State Treasurer Rob McCord and former DEP Secretary Katie McGinty looking very angry; and Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz — front and center — staring into space with glazed-over eyes. Minister Max Myers and Lebanon County Commissioner Jo Ellen Litz — both longshot winners — appear the most photogenic.
The website describes the candidates as, “Desperate for attention; disastrous for Pennsylvania.”
“The D Team” discusses how all the candidates are the same in their support of higher taxes, more government spending and support of Obamacare. The twitter hashtags for the site include #DTeam and #LackOfEnthusiasm.
The PAGOP has officially supported Tom Corbett in the November election — an incumbent who is currently very unpopular and is viewed as the most vulnerable governor in the country, according to a Washington Post poll.
Full disclosure: The PA GOP advertises this website on PoliticsPA.com

Guys and Gals we need to stop supporting the GOP AND DEM! They have all the power and can do what ever they want to us. We need another party to step up and take control. Bucks County is the most important Country in the state. We need to take over that Country before we can fix PA. Please help me grow the Libertarian Party of Bucks County.
This is what happens when you get your econ understanding and “facts” from MSNBC/PBS/NYTimes… Folks supposedly in-the-know are misinformed.
OMG, stick to the html. Do yourself a favor and read up on Employment Cost Index then tell me if you still stand by the “labor hasn’t kept up with inflation” comment.
Minimum wage is a price floor. Any “project” you can think of has a higher market wage. The problem is that the cost of an employee means they don’t get hired. Obamacare made it worse. “Affordable” care…I don’t think so.
Labor hasn’t kept up with inflation. This is why minimum wage needs to go up so people working 40+ hours/week don’t have to live in poverty.
Sharpen your pencil. Bush tax cuts=record revenue. Tax increases will increase revenue temporarily because they’re unanticipated. Then business moves or invests elsewhere. Ceteris peribus, Bush had it right.
(Projects are more expensive because the inputs–like labor–are more expensive and you wouldn’t build a 1950s bridge in 2014)
Layman’s mistakes. I see it all the time. Stick to the 1s and 0s.
From wikipedia:
“During FY2013, the federal government collected approximately $2.77 trillion in tax revenue, up $326 billion or 13% versus FY2012 revenues of $2.45 trillion”
This is a record. Projected revenues for the next three years are: $3.0 trillion, $3.3 trillion and $3.5 trillion respectively.
Hmm… looks like records are made to be broken.
(projects will break records even when you correct for inflation and use constant dollars from a fixed year)
Better luck next time.
Here’s a tidbit nobody likes talking about:
You know how our government passed the 2007 and 2008 budgets? Pelosi looked away when Bush spent on war, and Bush looked away as Pelosi spent on everything else. Fact! I was there–neither side wanted to talk about it and it didn’t sell the news, but it is history.
And any discussion of debt/deficit is incomplete w/o addressing revenue. Revenue under Bush’s policies was of course record-setting. Because this verifiable fact invalidates paragraphs and paragraphs of opinion below, I thought it was finally worth reminding everyone.
David, it’s hard for me to believe that you believe the things that you write. But I’m oh so glad you write them. What spin! Rates of increase/decrease? Give us a break! This spinning is making us D-I-Z-Z-Y.
Anyone can Google up some stats. But you can’t see the forest through the trees. Stick to things you understand like DOS or COBOL and I promise not to interject.
Joe-
First of all, you have to get the annual deficit under control to manage the total debt.
The annual deficit increased by over a trillion dollars under Bush, and with subsequent interest on that debt. The Bush tax cuts were completely irresponsible, especially with the budget drain of an expensive/unnecessary war in Iraq. The deregulation and laissez-faire attitude toward the financial sector helped lead to the economic collapse. The loss of millions of jobs reduced tax revenues further.
Also, Obama was left with the expenses of wars Bush started adding to the debt/deficit. So, much of the debt under Obama is still the result of Bush. It’s not like Obama brought the troops home the day after he was sworn in.
The debt doubled under Bush. Due to reductions in the deficit, the rate of increase of the debt has slowed down under Obama. Things are going in the right direction. Unfortunately, we are going too slowly due to the inability of CONGRESS to function and do it’s job. Boehner is held hostage by the tea party anarchists in the GOP.
The amount if money spent on welfare (to people who lost their jobs due to Bush in the first place) is around $20 billion a year or less. There are people trying to tag all sorts of other spending or aid as “welfare”, to cook a budget argument, by conflating welfare with programs like Medicaid and CHIP.
Welfare is Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF).
I don’t know where you got your econ degree, but this economy sucks. 5 years into Obama, and just saying “huge improvements” and ” definite turnaround” is spin and doesn’t make kids feel any better about their out-of-work parents.
Another way to put things would be to say we only have the 5th largest deficit in history this year! Or, I dare you to tell us how many years since our founding did it take this country to accrue a DEBT as big as this year’s DEFICIT that you’re touting. I’ll even let you use chained-dollars.
It simply stretches credulity to believe that after the amount of debt racked up by Obama/Pelosi/Reid and the current state of the economy that Democrat policies have done anything but make things worse than they would have been and squandered our future to boot.
@ David Diano:
“Okay, the annual deficit is about half of what it was when Obama took office, which is about 700 billion less.”
From the beginning to end of Bush’s eight years, we went from $4.5 trillion to $9.5 trillion in national debt. Just over FIVE years of Obama has gotten us from $9.5 trillion to $17.2 Trillion in national debt!!! Yet, commie pigs like you continue to talk about how “its all Bush’s fault” and “Bush’s illegal wars”. This commie pig in the WH has done nothing more than spend money on welfare and entitlements for lazy bums and illegals.
Okay, the annual deficit is about half of what it was when Obama took office, which is about 700 billion less.
Also, we aren’t losing over half a million jobs each month.
So, we have huge improvements, and a definite turnaround. It’s not like $50 out of $5000.
But, the problem with the GOP tax policies is that they give huge/unnecessary tax breaks and loopholes to the super rich. And contrary to the claims of “trickle-down” economics the rich do not use the tax savings to create jobs and improve the economy. They hoard the money. Companies are sitting on trillions in assets and not investing that into jobs and expansion or even cost of living increases for their workers. Basically, the entire rational behind right-wing tax policy has been unequivocally demonstrated as false/failed. However, enough people get rich off of this bad policy to fuel/fund GOP lawmakers who push it.
I’ll try not being so obtuse. But, you’ll need to try also. Saying that the deficit is improving reminds me of when my tenant wanted to make a $50 payment on a $5,000 deficit to avoid eviction.
I remember being in the White House when Democrats took over the power of the purse and elected Nancy Pelosi as leader. I think history will show that this is where everything went to pot. Some have short memories, but Bush turned around the Enron/Tyco bubble burst that Clinton incubated w/o restraint. See, I can throw s**t against the wall like you too. But, I’d be a crappy apologist if I were to make the very true defense that in the last decade, Republican majorities have supported record setting “services.”
@Frank Liberals raising taxes? Where? Chocolate Jesus just gave you the ‘biggest middle class tax cut in the history of the republic’. And your upset with that??!…:-/
How is stating that the situation is improving being an “apologist”?
You made the claim that it was liberal tax and spend policies making things worse, and I’m stating that the deficit situation is improving. ie counter-example to your claim.
The GOP policy is to reduce taxes and spend more: More wars. More give-a-ways to oil companies. And, despite spending more, they offer fewer services to help the poor or educate people (students or adults needing job training).
“The annual deficit has been shrinking. Employment situation is improving.”
The Earth’s rotation is also slowing down.
Crappy apologists.
Frank-
The annual deficit has been shrinking. Employment situation is improving. Recovery is being slowed down by the House GOP refusing to move on jobs bills and other remedies merely out of spite if Obama supports them. These types of jobs/recovery bills have gone through with bipartisan support in the past. But, today’s GOP doesn’t even understand the function of government.
Was this Corbett “feel good” budget crafted by Acting Governor Brabender? This budget is why Bob Guzzardi’s needs to be taken seriously as a challenger to Tom Corbett. http://www.philly.com/philly/news/politics/state/How_Corbett_made_a_14_bil
lion_deficit_disappear.html
David,
And liberal tax and spend policies have made that situation worse, or better?
KingOfSpades-
I remember the stock market crashing and the workforce losing over half a million jobs each month as Bush’s policies came to their inevitable result at the end of his term.
NAN: This website stinks. Get your money back from Chairman Rob Gleason: take it out of his pay. Reminds of the Bill Murray scene in Caddyshack when he trys to kill the Gophers: http://youtu.be/WaSUyYSQie8
I don’t know Barricks, I seem to remember unemployment being a lot lower under Bush than it has been for the last 5 years under Obama.
What I want to know is how many jobs left the USA encouraged by legislation and tax breaks passed during the Bush-Cheney Administration.
Typical of the PAGOP. They can’t tell you why to vote for Corbett but they can make a propaganda site to try and smear the Democratic candidates. Today’s Republican party isn’t the one of Reagan, Ridge or Scranton, they are a bunch paranoid liars hatched from the loins of Tricky Dick Nixon, G. Gordon Liddy and Rush Limbaugh.
