The Supreme Court on Friday blocked the Biden administration’s student debt relief plan in a 6-3 decision, stopping more than 40 million borrowers from receiving loan forgiveness and delivering a major defeat to one of the president’s key campaign promises.
Here are some reactions from Pennsylvania’s delegation in Washington.
Our government has spent TRILLIONS to bail out the big banks and the CEOs who crashed our economy. Our government cancelled MILLIONS in pandemic loans for Members of Congress.
Yet SCOTUS is saying we cannot cancel some of the student loan debt for working people.

Pennsylvanians should not have to foot the bill for other people’s loans. Today’s ruling is a victory for the rule of law and a blow to President Biden’s executive overreach. https://t.co/AbI8reYnYF

Last fall, friends & family gathered at our home to celebrate my daughter and her now-wife’s loving marriage.
Today, the conservative SCOTUS gave license to businesses to discriminate against them and other LGBTQ+ families.
I strongly oppose this anti-LGBTQ+ court’s ruling. https://t.co/EgApZ4wHzJ

Biden’s ridiculous student loan forgiveness proposal was always unconstitutional.
Even Nancy Pelosi agreed.
I’m glad to see #SCOTUS reject Biden’s vote-buying scheme. https://t.co/hBXA1mw8VH

The Supreme Court struck down President Biden’s $400 billion student loan giveaway. The President does not have the Constitutional authority to spend money on his own. This ruling upholds Congress’s Power of the Purse. Congress must approve how taxpayer money is spent.

Disappointed but not surprised.
We *know* that college is unaffordable for so many Americans, and we’re still fighting to fix it.
But in the meantime, there are people struggling under the enormous weight of loans. Student Loan Forgiveness would provide much-needed relief. https://t.co/dX8XDFFODH

Yet another horrible SCOTUS decision from a court that truly believes it is the one and only branch of government. We need to reform the Court now. https://t.co/HYrfAy4NjE

I agree with the SCOTUS decision to strike down POTUS’s unconstitutional debt bailout. Those who choose to take out loans should pay them back.

Student loan forgiveness is nothing more than a transfer of wealth. The decision from SCOTUS reinforces what I have been saying all along – the President does not have the authority to force millions of hardworking Americans to foot the $400 billion bill.

SCOTUS got it right — this ruling is a victory for the Constitution, and for the hard-working Taxpayers who President Biden tried to force into footing the bill for debt they didn’t incur and a benefit they didn’t receive.

1/ While the Supreme Court ruled against @POTUS Biden’s student-debt relief that I supported, I’ll keep working on this. I’m an original co-sponsor of the College for All Act (HR 4117) & also support expansion of the Pell Grant system & making community college tuition-free. pic.twitter.com/ergMrIOd3L

The Heroes Act is designed to alleviate negative effects of a national emergency. Yet, nowhere in the qualifications to apply for forgiveness, did applicants need to even allege that they lost income due to covid. So, how could this act possibly apply. Should have been an open and shut 9-0 decision.
Solid, Constitutionally based decision by SCOTUS. Biden’s Executive Branch, any Executive Branch never had the power to cancel debt. It was Progressive overreach that led to this decision. I saw Fetterman’s staff replied (because he can’t) if banks can be bailed out, why can’t people be helped? #1, laws were passed or in place for banks; #2, whose money is in banks? It’s people!! (a tip of the hat to Charlton Heston).
The SCOTUS is suppose to interpret the law, not make public policy. Biden’s student loan forgiveness program is legal and extends a helping hand to millions struggling with student loan debt. It’s an example of the Federal Government helping people and having the foresight that debt relief will help the overall economy.
The decisions by this rogue court are alarming. It just affirms that elections have consequences. Supreme Court Justices are nominated by the President and confirmed by the Senate. If you don’t vote for the right candidate, bad things like these SCOTUS rulings can happen. At the root, vote straight Democrat every election.
After a lifetime shooting his big mouth off in the US Capitol you would think joe biden would know the President can’t just “cancel” debt (i.e. buy votes.)
And while I’m at it, I see that the greatest senator of all time included the term “working people” in his teary-eyed tweet. That’s rich, since the GSOAT has never worked a single day in his life.
This is what it sounds like… when leftists cry~
