Patrick Murphy Gains Momentum, Raises Over $900k Since July
Murphy doubles Fitzpatrick’s fundraising haul in the past quarter, increasing financial advantage over his opponent.
(Bristol, PA) – Patrick Murphy took in $940,000 between July and the end of September, adding to his war chest in his PA-08 race against former Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick.
“As we head into the final stretch, folks are really starting to see that former Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick offers nothing but a return to the failed Bush economic policies that drove our economy into a ditch,” said Murphy, adding that he was grateful for the support he’s received from the 6,590 Pennsylvanians who have contributed to his race.
Murphy has consistently held more than a 2-to-1 cash-on-hand advantage in the past few filing periods. Since the beginning of the campaign cycle, Murphy – who ousted Congressman Fitzpatrick in 2006 – has raised approximately $3.55 million, making him one of the strongest fundraisers in a Congressional District across the country.
Murphy’s campaign has gained significant momentum in the past several weeks, as shown by its record-breaking fundraising numbers and a slew of recent endorsements, including the Bucks County Police FOP Lodge #53. Recent polls have shown a tight race, with Murphy’s internal poll showing him up 4 points and the independent polling firm Harstad Strategic Research showing Murphy leading by 3 points.
