Pence to Visit Western PA on Friday

Vice President Mike Pence is heading to the Keystone State on Friday.

Pence will participate in the first event for the “Great American Comeback Tour,” organized by America First Policies, a group that supports President Donald Trump’s agenda, in Sarver, PA. According to a release from the group, the visit in Butler County at Oberg Industries, is the first in a series of “national economic policy events,” that will feature guest speakers promoting policies that will “drive America’s economic recovery following the COVID-19 pandemic.”

In addition to that event on Friday afternoon, Pence will be making several stops in the Pittsburgh region, including a visit to Covenant Church and lunch at a restaurant in the area, according to KDKA

The Pennsylvania Democratic Party described Pence’s upcoming visit to the state as “nothing more than an attempt to distract” from the Trump administration’s record and criticized the VP’s performance leading the Coronavirus Task Force as well.

“Trump and Pence are utterly disconnected from the pain and suffering so many families across the country are experiencing as a result of the Trump administration’s failure to address the coronavirus crisis,” said Pennsylvania Democratic Party spokesperson Andres Anzola. “Over 6,000 Pennsylvanians have lost their lives and millions are still out of work.”

Their statement continued to blame the Trump administration for their response to COVID-19.

“It didn’t have to be this bad, but Trump and Pence ignored the early warnings of experts, downplayed the crisis to appease China and they continue to prematurely push parts of the country to reopen without the testing necessary to do so safely,” Anzola continued. “They’re trying to clean up their own mess and nobody should buy it.”

The Pennsylvania Republican Party did not immediately respond to comment on this upcoming visit.

Gov. Tom Wolf has mainly received high marks for his response to COVID-19, while Pennsylvanians have remained split on Trump’s response to the pandemic

Although traditional campaigning has been limited due to COVID-19, both former Vice President Joe Biden’s campaign along with the Trump administration have made visits to the region in recent months.

Trump’s most recent appearance in the state was when he spoke for 30 minutes at a medical equipment distribution center in the Lehigh Valley in mid-May. Biden delivered an address at Philadelphia City Hall on June 2 and will be participating in a roundtable event on Thursday in Philadelphia with community members on how to “make sure the economic reopening is effective and safe and gets America back to work.”

The most recent polling show a tight race between the former VP and Trump in the Keystone State, although Biden currently has a narrow edge.

The Real Clear Politics average shows Biden besting Trump by 3.3 points in Pennsylvania.

  1. “Great American Comeback Tour”

To come back from the disaster that Trump spent the past 3 1/2 years creating?

“America First Policies” means… rich white men first.

    1. Pence has a more smooth public speaking style than Trump. He more concise and clear in his presentations. I can say this, if Pence were President and Trump Vice President whatever is going on now would not be going on then. I’m for Biden but I never write off Pence. He is much more substantive than Trump.

      1. Trump never should have happened. In 2016 Republicans could have nominated Kasich, Rubio or even Pence or anyone else that was on the early debate stages and by November of 2016, they would have beaten Hilary Clinton. History will eventually rule that her political greed is what brought about Trump. Now where the Republicans failed and will pay for many election cycles is they left Trump happen and did not shut him down. Kasich would have been a great President and would have made the Republican brand better. But here we are. TRUMP MUST GO and Pence and many others will go down with the SS TRUMP.

  2. Stay home, Pence. We have enough faux Jesus freaks already in PA. You know, the ultra pious kind who object to profanity but are OK with systemic racism.
