In 1992, Democratic strategist James Carville coined a phrase that still rings true today.
“The economy, stupid!”
It’s often quoted as, “It’s the economy, stupid,” and was one of three messages for the Bill Clinton campaign to focus on.
Thirty-two years later, it just as easily could be reframed for both the Harris and Trump campaigns as, “It’s Pennsylvania, stupid.”
With just seven days remaining before the presidential debate at the National Convention Center in Philadelphia and two weeks before early voting begins in the Commonwealth, both campaigns are sending their personnel and spending their time on Pennsylvania.
