State Rep. Scott Petri (R-Bucks) was named the new Executive Director of the Philadelphia Parking Authority. He will take over the agency in the wake of two critical audits by the Auditor General.
“My role will be to question everything we do, why we do it, and are we obtaining the best result,” Petri said according to the Inquirer.
Petri will step down from his seat in the state House before January 2nd, when he officially starts with the PPA.
The PPA has been under scrutiny after its former Executive Director Vincent Fenerty resigned in September 2016 after two sexual harassment scandals.
Recently, the PPA drew ire after audits ended with 117 recommendations, a new record for the Auditor General’s office, and found the PPA cost Philadelphia public schools $78 million.
Petri’s resignation from the state House sets up what will likely be a hotly contested special election for his seat. According to Daily Kos Trump won Petri’s district by 3 points, while Petri won it by 22 points.

Philly and FBI wow really shocker
He was also smart to get out before the blue tsunami wipes out the rest of Bucks County. Chances are he was going to lose his seat and he showed his smarts by getting a pay raise. Just think, two years ago at this time he was the leading contender to succeed Mike Fitzpatrick in Congress. Now he has to battle Jim Kenney and Helen Gym.
Had the opportunity to chat with Scott a year ago, and found him to be knowledgeable and interactive; he’s scrupulously honest and will perform admirably in this “hot” position.
Smart David, I always need the guy overseeing parking in my town to care about the funding of public schools. Genius.
MPGA-
Some of the revenue is supposed to go to school. Since the current PPA management cost the schools $78 million, it’s pretty important that the PPA Executive Director cares about the schools getting their fair share.
So just a few months after Petri introduced a bill for Joe Ashdale he gets rewarded by getting a $200k job as head of the PPA. QUID PRO QUO! No wonder the FBI is looking into this place. Stinks to high heaven. (Just wait until they look into who got all those contracts – any why!) More quid pro quo.
How about putting a Democrat in instead? Especially, a Dem who cares about seeing public schools properly funded.
