PGW Employees’ Union Endorses Kenyatta Johnson for City Council

PGW-signKenyatta Johnson has been endorsed by the Philadelphia Gas Works Employees’ Union, Local 686 amidst his re-election campaign for Philadelphia City Council.

President of Local 686, Keith Holmes, said that “Kenyatta stood up for our members when we needed him most…His support for working families and his progressive position on issues important to our members are greatly appreciated. We look forward to helping to secure his re-election and working with him for years to come.”

The Local 686 says that they have 1,150 members throughout Philadelphia.

“I was proud to stand with the gas workers to protect their jobs,” responded Councilman Johnson. “I look forward to continuing to work with them into the future to make sure their family-sustaining jobs are protected.”

Last week, Johnson won the support of the Philadelphia AFL-CIO.

The Councilman is in the middle of a heated primary with real estate developer Ori Feibush for the Democratic nomination in the 2nd Council District.
