Lynne Abraham is doubling down on a strategy of championing and protecting Philadelphia’s kids.
Her new ad highlights her work to amend the State Constitution to allow children to testify remotely against their accused abusers.
The thirty-second spot begins by showing a young girl on the witness stand, then shifting to her view of the Judge, jury, audience and attacker. It’s a clever strategy to convey, as simply and quickly as possible, why the change was needed.
“Our children should come first,” Abraham states after explaining the process.
She then transitions into a swipe at front-runners Jim Kenney and Anthony Williams.
“Jim Kenney and Tony Williams are fighting over public schools versus charters,” she states. “I disagree. We have to improve education for all our children.”
The goal is to portray Kenney and Williams as extremists, or at least the two poles, in the education debate with Abraham in the center.
The former Philly DA’s second ad has basically the same theme as her first. That commercial featured photos of dozens of kids and made the same argument that only Abraham could transcend the public vs. charter debate.

When you’ve got nothing else, go back to “for the children.”
