PITTS’ WORST VOTE #26: CUT BUSINESS TAXES? HORRORS!

PITTS’ WORST VOTE #26:  CUT BUSINESS TAXES?  HORRORS!

We at the Herr 2010 campaign were so used to hearing Representative Pitts talk about cutting business taxes to create jobs that we actually thought he meant it.  Silly us.

Vote Number #26:  H.R. 2847, the Hiring Incentives to Restore Employment Act

Look over Congressman Pitts’ newsletters and campaign material, and you’ll see repeated assertions that cutting business taxes is the path to job creation.  Then along came this bill, which exempted employers from paying Social Security taxes on new employees who had been without work for 60 days or longer. It also increased the amount of the cost of depreciable business assets that could be written off as expenses.  Came the final vote and:

Pitts votes NO.

The bill passed both the House and Senate, and was signed by President Obama on March 18, 2010.  There are people bringing home paychecks today despite, not because of Rep. Pitts’ vote.

Fortunately for Joe Pitts, his mouth has two sides, so that he can talk out of both.  The Bad Pitts Votes continue, one each day.
