PITTS’ WORST VOTE #29: A VOTE AGAINST COPS IS LIKE…A VOTE AGAINST COPS

PITTS’ WORST VOTE #29:  A VOTE AGAINST COPS IS  LIKE…A VOTE AGAINST COPS

You could have knocked the Herr 2010 campaign researcher over with a parking ticket when he discovered that Congressman Pitts had cast his vote against our men and women in blue.

Vote Number 29:  H.R. 1129, the COPS Improvements Act of 2009

COPS — short for Community Oriented Policing Services — traces its origin back to the Omnibus Crime and Safe Streets Act of 1968.  This bill, introduced in February of 2009, sought to update the program to train officers to deal with intelligence, anti-terror or homeland security duties.  Also included were programs to combat crime, gangs and drug activcities in elementary and secondary schools.  What’s not to like in a bill like this?  Congressman Pitts evidently found something:

Pitts votes NO.

The bill passed 342-78, with 92 of Congressman Pitts’ fellow Republicans voting in favor.  Anyone ask his constituents if beefing up the police is worth a vote?

Perhaps there’s no crime in Joe Pitts corner of the world…  Well, plenty more Bad Pitts Votes ahead, one each day.
