Planned Parenthood Endorses Shapiro

Josh ShapiroPlanned Parenthood has made their choice in the Democratic primary for Attorney General.

Yesterday, Planned Parenthood PA PAC announced they’re supporting Josh Shapiro.

“Josh is the only candidate for Attorney General we trust to defend women’s access to health care,” said Sari Stevens, Executive Director of the Planned Parenthood PA PAC. “Unlike his opponents, Josh knows that the rights of women in Pennsylvania are on the line in this election. We need an Attorney General who will defend reproductive health care from ultra-conservatives in both parties intent on taking it away.”

“At a time when legislators and Attorneys General across the country are attacking access to basic reproductive health services, it is vital we have a true advocate for women and men across our Commonwealth,” she continued. “The job of the Attorney General is to protect Pennsylvanians, and Josh understands that a crucial part of that is to protect our right to access critical health services such as breast exams, STI testing and treatment and contraception.”

“I am proud to stand with 350,000 Pennsylvanians who are active supporters of Planned Parenthood to protect and defend the rights of women to access legal health services in our Commonwealth no matter where you live or how much money you have,” Shapiro responded. “We can’t forget that women’s rights are under attack here in Pennsylvania and across our country. As your Attorney General I will stand strong to make sure no one undermines access to basic health services in Pennsylvania.”

The Montgomery County Commissioner is running against Allegheny County DA Stephen Zappala and Northampton DA John Morganelli in the Democratic primary.

  1. I have no preference except A.B.Z., anybody but. Still, it seems to me that the Bazzano-Zappala-Porter mafia should be pro life because they need more kids for their ‘for profit’ juvenile prison company, of which Allegheny County District Attorney Steve Zappala, Junior supplies many through his cronies on the county juvenile court. You are so right, Observant…Zappala prosecutes these kids until the government-mafia complex can’t keep ’em no mo’. If you like that kind of “experience”, marry a ho.

  2. Of course PP wants Shapiro. He has NO experience as a prosecutor so he’ll let them get away with anything.

  3. Josh Shapiro will protect Women and women health rights.
Steve Zappala is prolife. Well truth is he is proZappala life. He just says he is Pro-life. But more like Pro-birth. After birth he could careless if you get beat to death in the streets or subways or bus stations.

  4. I don’t understand this part of the statement:

“will defend reproductive health care from ultra-conservatives in both parties intent on taking it away.”

Is there a real problem with ultra-conservatives in the Democratic party fighting to take PP away?

  5. This endorsement is no surprise. The Party Bosses have chosen Shapiro and strong arm the special interests into endorsements of the chosen candidate. The funny thing is that the article offers no reason why Shapiro is a better defender of Planned parenthood than any of the other candidates. It is a net opinion, no basis other than somebody told them so, I guess, or Shapiro has promised something that PP can’t disclose. In any event, while I support Planned Parenthood, its endorsement does nothing to change my mind (nor should it change anyone’s) and does not alter plain simple fact – that Josh Shapiro is the least fit and most unqualified Democratic Party candidate to seek this very important office. I will gladly cast my lot with a person who has proven the ability to successfully run a prosecutor’s office in a major county in Pennsylvania…Steve Zappala!
