The DCCC has reserved ad buys in two Pennsylvania districts, the 7th and 15th, Politico reported Tuesday, a signal it plans to spend its precious cash reserves in both of those competitive House races.

The reservation is particularly notable for the 15th, where GOP U.S. Rep. Charlie Dent faces Democrat John Callahan in a rare this year that features an endangered Republican incumbent. The DCCC has announced its intention to buy ads in only two other Republican-held seats across the country, the D.C. news service reported.

Callahan has received as much attention from the national party as any other Pennsylvania candidate, incumbent or challenger. Vice President Joe Biden has already appeared at a campaign fundraiser for the Bethlehem mayor and former President Bill Clinton is scheduled to make an appearance Aug. 10.

The 7th District race features an open-seat race between Democrat Bryan Lentz and Republican Pat Meehan to replace outgoing incumbent Joe Sestak. It’s generally seen as the most competitive congressional contest in Pennsylvania this year.

It’s the second-wave of announced ad buys in as many weeks. Last week the DCCC reported it has reserved time in Kathy Dahlkemper’s, Chris Carney’s, Mark Critz’s, and Paul Kanjorski’s districts. It has done so in 60 seats nationwide.

Although reserving air time is a good indication the DCCC plans to become involved in the race, it is in no way a guarantee until the group actually spends its money there.
