Pennsylvania will hold onto the coveted Appropriations Committee seat vacated by the late Rep. John Murtha, with the Democratic Steering Committee recommending Rep. Patrick Murphy for the job after an intense battle for the slot.

Murphy’s win resulted from a furious last-minute push by a newly unified Pennsylvania delegation that had been divided for weeks by internal differences over the seat, according to Democratic sources.

The intense campaign to keep the seat, spearheaded by Rep. Mike Doyle, included a warning to Democratic leaders that transferring the seat to another state — or delaying action — could hurt former Murtha aide Mark Critz’s bid to win his 12th District House seat in a special election later this month, according to a senior Democratic aide.

  1. I’m a constituent of his and I don’t support that vote.

What a coincidence, that makes two of us.

  2. We now know what Murphy sold his vote on health care for. Thanks for selling out your constituents.

I will be paying more and eventually end up on socialized medicine because Murphy wanted this seat on Appropriations. Way to go.
