Politico reporter (and pa2010.com alum) Dan Hirschhorn has the scoop on Rick Santorum’s presidential plans.
The former Senator will officially announce his campaign for the Presidency on June 6, reportedly near the western Pennsylvania coal mines where his grandfather worked.
“This location is significant because when Senator Santorum’s grandfather left fascist Italy, he was attracted to America’s freedom, and the opportunity our nation offered him,” one person close to the Santorum campaign explained.
After the announcement, the former Pennsylvania senator will head to Iowa, and later, to New Hampshire.
5:00pm Update: Dan Malloy at the Post-Gazette reports that Santorum’s announcement will occur on the steps of the (beautiful) Somerset County Courthouse, a few miles from the Flight 93 crash site.
