Another poll has shown Democratic gubernatorial front-runner Dan Onorato receiving a post-TV ad bump.

Rasmussen Reports, in a poll released Tuesday, showed the Allegheny County chief executive trailing likely GOP nominee Tom Corbett 45 percent to 36 percent. The same survey last month showed him down 46 percent to 29 percent, a difference of 8 points from April, and one completed in February had him trailing 52 percent to 26 percent, a change of 17 points.

The April survey of 500 “likely voters” was conducted last Thursday. It has a margin of error of 4.5 percent.

Onorato was the first gubernatorial in either party to begin airing TV ads, starting in late March. Since then, he’s seen a bump in Tuesday’s Rasmussen poll and one conducted last week by Susquehanna Polling and Research, which showed him up by 19 points on his nearest competitor.

Earlier polls of the Democratic gubernatorial primary had shown Onorato the leader, but usually by only a few points and pulling less than 20 percent.

The Rasmussen survey Corbett beating Auditor General Jack Wagner 48 percent to 27 percent and Montgomery County Commissioner Joe Hoeffel 49 percent to 29 percent. The fourth Democratic gubernatorial candidate, state Senator Anthony Williams, was not polled in a hypothetical general election matchup.
