Former Senate Republican top aide Todd Nyquist has joined GOP campaign guru Mike Long to create a government affairs and political consulting firm.
The government firm will be called “Long, Nyquist and Associates.” The campaign operation will be called “LNA Consulting.”
“It’s very exciting,” Long told PoliticsPA, “and we think it’s going to be a lot of fun.”
The story was first reported by the Capitol news service Capitolwire.
The two men worked together on several campaigns in recent years, including engineering Republican Supreme Court candidate Joan Orie Melvin’s Tuesday’s surprising 6-point victory.
“It might be immodest of me to say, but we’ve established a record that is difficult for anyone else to match,” Long said. “As you know in politics, people like to see what your box score is, and it’s hard to have a better score than we’ve had the last few years.”
Long and Nyquist have been critical to Senate Republican campaign efforts. The caucus has been the lone bright spot for the Pennsylvania GOP in recent years, not just retaining but expanding its advantage over Senate Democrats. Thirty of the Senate’s 50 seats belong to the GOP.
