On the same day his opponent began airing his first TV spots, U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter hit the airwaves Tuesday with a 30-second attack ad that criticizes Democratic challenger Joe Sestak’s record in the Navy and missed congressional votes the past year.

The ad, which is reportedly running statewide, cites Sestak’s demotion in the Navy and hitting the congressman for having the “worst attendance of any Pennsylvania congressman.”

Specter began running positive ads last week that highlighted his record of bringing federal money back into Pennsylvania. The primary is May 18.

Below is the text of the ad.

  1. Does watching this ad make anyone else feel 65? Doesn’t Specter already have that vote? I haven’t seen the polling.
