Arlen Specter began hitting the airwaves Tuesday night with a series of three ads, each of which seemed aimed at telling blue collar voters that the incumbent Democratic senator can “bring home the bacon” to Pennsylvania.
The minute-long spot featured above tells an anecdote about more than 100 former Bethlehem Steel workers who had their pensions saved by Specter after the company went bankrupt. The four men, sitting around a table, said other senators ignored their pleas for help.
“If Arlen Specter can do this for us, just think what he can do for the rest of the downtrodden and mistreated workers in Pennsylvania,” said one of the workers featured in the spot.
The other two ads are each thirty seconds long, with a male and female construction worker extolling to the camera the benefits of having a senator who bring money — and jobs — into the state.
