Jack Wagner’s gubernatorial campaign had less cash on hand at the end of March than it did to start the year after raising only $220,000 during the first three months of 2010, campaign finance reports show.
Wagner spent $222,000 during the same period, leaving him with just $673,000 on hand as of March 29. His campaign started the year with $676,000.
The auditor general’s fundraising has been anemic compared to two of his Democratic rivals, Dan Onorato and Anthony Williams. Onorato, Allegheny County’s chief executive, reportedly raised $900,000 this year and has about $6.7 million on hand. Williams, a state senator from Philadelphia who formally entered the race in early February, has said he raised about $1.7 million since declaring.
Both candidates will have TV ads running this week across the state, a feat that Wagner will struggle to match while his fundraising continues to lag.
I see this being the beginning of the end for the Democratic Primary. Onorato has the definite upper hand.
Follow the money my friends, follow the money!
