HARRISBURG — If Democrat Dan Onorato hopes to win the election for governor on Tuesday, it’s crucial that he get a large turnout in Philadelphia, the state’s largest city and a place where Democrats far outnumber Republicans.
So on Friday the Democrats, led by Philly Mayor Michael Nutter and several state legislators, were trying to rally their troops by making a big deal out of three impolitic words that Republican candidate Tom Corbett had said to a GOP crowd in suburban Philadelphia Thursday.
Referring to the voter turnout in Philadelphia, Mr. Corbett told the Republicans: “Keep that down,” presumably meaning he doesn’t want a lot of Democrats going to the polls Tuesday to vote for Mr. Onorato.
