State Auditor General Jack Wagner said Friday he is considering a run for mayor of Pittsburgh.

“I’ll be giving it a lot of thought over the next year,” Mr. Wagner said. “I live in Pittsburgh. I love Pittsburgh. I think we have tremendous resources here, and I don’t think we’re managing those resources wisely.”

Mr. Wagner said the logistics of a mayor’s race would demand that he or any other candidate would have to make a decision by about a year before the May 2013 primary.
