Barack Obama’s job approval rating is in negative territory in Pa., mirroring the recent nation trend.

53% of registered Pa. voters said they take an unfavorable view of the President is doing his job according to the latest survey from Public Policy Polling. 43% said they approve.

PPP surveyed 693 Pa. voters from Nov. 22 to 25 via IVR. The margin of error is plus or minus 3.7%.

Update: a Wednesday release from PPP shows that Obama’s signature legislation, the Affordable Care Act, was similarly unpopular in the poll. 51% of respondents said they disapprove of the ACA, also called Obamacare. 40% approve.

1 in 3 self-identified Democrats gave Obama negative marks, an overall approval rating of 65% to 30% among his party.

He has positive marks among independents and third party voters, too, 53% to 43%. Republicans disapprove his performance 81% to 17%.

His strongest numbers come from voters ages 18 to 45, who give him a positive 50% to 47% rating. Middle aged voters (ages 46 to 65) gave him the worst marks, disapproving 59% to 37%.

There was no significant difference between Obama’s rating among men and women.

47% of those surveyed said they voted for Obama in 2012 (Obama took 52% of the statewide vote that year).
