Last night, President Donald Trump held a “Make America Great Again” rally alongside U.S. Senate candidate Rep. Lou Barletta (R-Hazelton) at the Mohegan Sun Arena at the Casey Plaza in Wilkes-Barre, PA.
Trump boosted his economic agenda, discussed immigration, criticized the “fake news media”, while he promoted Barletta’s push to unseat Sen. “Sleeping Bob” Casey.
Hours before Trump took the stage in Luzerne County, he sent out two tweets back to back boasting his victory in Pennsylvania and called Barletta an “original supporter” hoping he replaces “a weak an ineffective Senator, Bob Casey.”
Looking forward to being in the Great State of Pennsylvania where we had a tremendous victory in the Election. Will be campaigning hard for an original supporter, Lou Barletta, to replace a weak an ineffective Senator, Bob Casey. Lou is tough and smart, loves PA and our Country!

Trump also emphasized in all capital letters bringing “steel back” in a “very big” way.

Trump is the first Republican presidential candidate to win Pennsylvania for the since 1988. One of the three counties that flipped from blue to red included Luzerne County.
“I’m thrilled to be back in the state that gave us America’s independence,” Trump said as he opened up the rally.
In addition to bragging about the economy, Trump made a plea to Pennsylvania voters to elect Rep. Lou Barletta to the Senate.
Barletta opened up his address stating he never believed he would be a politician, “but never in my wildest dreams did I ever believe that the President of the United States would come to my hometown area to help me win an election for the United State Senate.”
Barletta listed a series of reasons Trump should be re-elected in 2020 and asked the crowd, “Why would we ever stop that?”
“We’re not tired of winning Mr. President,” Barletta added.
While Barletta stated the importance of taking the seat from Casey, he mentioned the focuses of his campaign and pleaded that him winning would help, “putting an end to illegal immigration once and for all.”
Following Barletta’s address, Trump said how much of the state may not have known him well previously, but will know him well now. Trump called Barletta a dynamo, while “your dealing on the other side with the exact opposite”.
During the rally, Trump introduced a new nickname for Casey, calling him “Sleeping Bob”.
The Pennsylvania Democratic Party capitalized on Trump’s visit by sending out an email pushing for volunteers to knock on doors for Democratic candidates across the state.
Just a few weeks ago, Vice President Pence visited Philadelphia with Barletta to promote and fundraise for his campaign.
