Voters in 9 major swing states will today begin seeing the ad above, as the pro-Romney Super PAC Restore Our Future launches a $4.3 million ad buy. Noticeably absent from the list? Pennsylvania.
The now well-known spot about the time Romney helped locate an employee’s missing daughter will air in Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, and Virginia.
“Barack Obama had his chance to lead and failed. Now, it is time to exchange empty rhetoric with a proven record,” said Charlie Spies, Treasurer of Restore Our Future.
Why not PA? The group declined to comment on strategy. But it could be a tactically sound decision, if their numbers match Quinnipiac’s (the pollster today released survey results showing Barack Obama leading Romney 47 to 39).
Pennsylvania, lead by the Philadelphia market, is significantly more expensive to advertise than many of states on the list. Plus, the group recently ran the spot for the PA primary, so perhaps they intend to space it out.
The $4.3 million buy begins on May 3 and will run through May 16; here are the specific ad buy amounts by state, according to the PAC:
Colorado: $293,000
Florida: $857,000
Iowa: $490,000
Michigan: $465,000
Nevada: $278,000
New Hampshire: $231,000
North Carolina: $773,000
Ohio: $581,000
Virginia: $354,000

This is just because they ran that ad last month. If they think Michigan is in play, they think PA is too.
