PSEA Endorses Shapiro

Josh ShapiroThe commonwealth’s largest teacher’s union has made their choice in the Attorney General Democratic primary.

The Pennsylvania State Education Association (PSEA) is endorsing Montgomery County Commissioner Josh Shapiro.

“From his time in the Pennsylvania House through his tenure as Montgomery County Commissioner, Josh has always stood with public school employees and worked to strengthen our schools,” said PSEA President Jerry Oleksiak. “He is the best candidate to make our communities safe by investing in public education. Josh will be the people’s attorney, and stand up for the rights of all Pennsylvanians.”

“As the son of a former school teacher, I’m especially proud to be endorsed by PSEA. They have stood with me in in all of my previous campaigns and I know how much having the support of our public school teachers and staff means,” said Shapiro. “Every student in Pennsylvania has a constitutional right to a “thorough and efficient” education. As Attorney General, I will use all of the powers of my office to defend that right and ensure our schools have the funding they need to do the job for Pennsylvania’s students.”

The PSEA contains 180,000 throughout nearly all of Pennsylvania’s school districts.

Shapiro is running against Allegheny County DA Stephen Zappala and Northampton DA John Morganelli in the Democratic primary. The election is set for April 26th.

  1. Come on, PSEA. NO ONE who has accepted $50,000 from Students First should be endorsed by you. What has happened to you?

  2. Excuse me? Shapiro takes $50,000 from a School Choice Charter School group in 2015 and the PSEA endorses him. That is ridiculous. What the heck did Josh promise them?

  3. Battle of endorsements…teacher’s union versus mafia unions. Can’t we get Ernie Preate back?

  4. “He is the best candidate to make our communities safe by investing in public education”
